  • Oh GQ, I want to grab my frying pan & rolling pin & come & lie in wait for the bu88ers! Thank Heaven your Pashley & your preps are safe; goes to show how right you are to take precautions.

Lawlessness doesn't lie far beneath the skin of civilisation, is it? But how far down do we have to get to revive the kind of solidarity amongst the law-abiding that stopped behaviour like this in its tracks previously?

My DDs still relate with relish the time when we were out for a walk at the riverbank & saw two tweed-clad blokes pop out of the undergrowth brandishing shotguns. I was marching towards them to tell them in no uncertain terms to put those weapons down; criminals don't dress in new tweed caps & jackets any more than real country types do so I was prepared to bet that these were straying bankers out on a jolly. (Which, come to think of it, probably made them more dangerous because they didn't know what they were doing with the guns.) They dragged me back & explained in frantic whispers that I couldn't do that because I might get sued if anything went wrong! So we rang the police, who contacted the relevant shoot, who rounded the blighters up & explained that they couldn't wander the entire countryside, including public rights of way, brandishing loaded weapons. But the girls were right, that's the scary thing; take action when you see something patently wrong & you may be the one that gets punished!

We desperately need some kind of redress against the nasty thieving lowlives. Not in any way advocating lynch mobs or posses, but the restoration of underlying decency & respect, and the knowledge that if you act in innocence to try to right an obvious wrong, you won't be at risk of being prosecuted yourself.

Oh, GQ, what a nasty shock! You're no whiner, one of the toughest here, but have a virtual hug anyway. Glad they didn't discover your preps, though, and very glad Princess is safe. What a rotten shame your precious weekend is ruined! Hope the peelers catch the bu99ers!

Have been reading the c@re d@ta link someone posted last night, the long website with all the explanations. Very, very worrying! I will be asking my GP to put all those codes on our records! Won't stop the actual data transfer, but at least it will be de-identified. Big Brother has nowt on the current grubbyment and powerful [STRIKE]criminals[/STRIKE] organisations.

Hugs again, GQ, and get that chocolate and tea down yer neck!! :D

    :D Loving it!

Two knocks on the door about 20 seconds apart. First one was one of my upstairs neighbours (contrary to the impression I may give, I do have friendly relations with some of the neighbours :p) knocking on my door to ask if I knew my shed was broken into. I explained that I did, the Police were arriving shortly and thanked him. Police arrived then, showed him the damage, will get called later with the crime reference.

Seems to be that it's just an exercise in logging crimes..........anyroad, I had a text back from pal to say that if I do get finished they'd love to see me so have asked how late they're planning to be socialising, could use a little time with the pals after this weekend. Dammit, I'd been looking forward to this afternoon's gathering for 3 weeks.

Parents have been informed that Police have been and will be leaving shortly. Subject to traffic we're 45 mins door-to-door, although the bus is longer.

I have tea, I have chocolate, I have a spiltting stress headache and an irresistable desire to bust some thieving fingers - life goes on.

Let's hope greenbee's anti-flood prevention methods are going according to plan and hope she can check in later and let us know how it's all going.

Keep smiling, folks, I'm like a Weeble - I may wobble but I bounce back up again pretty quickly ready to kick a*rse.

:mad::mad: Oh GQ life is bloody unfair. The police are out in force here right now including the helicopter - will re-direct them to you if you want probbly get there faster than yours. Its so bl**dy frustrating when its stupidity like you have suffered and they cant blame anyone but greedy criminals who look for an easy buck. The upset they create, the cost and sheer waste of time thats needed for more important stuff beggars belief. An you are not whining, you deserve to be treated better and its good to get it off your chest as proven by your sorting yourself out from upset to fighting spirit xxxx

  • Oh GQ I feel for you. We usually leave a (high-up) window open for our two moggies, but DD2 rang on Thursday to say DON'T!!! Apparently a house in the street was entered at 8pm Wednesday night while the owners were there :eek::eek: So now big boy puss won't be able to have a nocturnal prowl. He only goes to the end of the garden but he does love it. We already provide a litter tray for old lady cat who's a grand old age and past climbing out of windows :(

On another topic does anyone know if the health data thing applies in Wales? Elaine? All the info I've read says England, but I had initially assumed they meant everyone. Hearing that Scotland is not affected made me rethink. I'll ring the local surgery on Monday and see what I can find out. I'm with you guys - TPTB can go fish if they think they're getting a free ride with me and Mr SWS.

And, of course, that applies tenfold - no, a hundredfold - to TPTB mithering about what to do about flooded land anywhere in the UK. :p

  • GQ how do you feel about bringing back the birch? I am currently feeling very much in favour!!! Little B**gers need a reality check and some proper incentives to not reoffend!!!!! Not PC I know, but the gently, softly approach really seems to have no effect does it? Wrathfully, Lyn xxx.

Sorry to hear of your woes GC and glad that you are bouncing back with a Positive Mental Attitude! Imagine what might happen when the S does HTF in this context - nothing will be sacred and it will be like mob rule. I notice in local town yesterday the police were walking around in a threesome. Has it got that bad or is it maybe to justify the extra 1.9p the local Police Commissioner is trying to get added to the council tax to cover increased policing?
