A second phone might be a better option.
A spare sim card isn't any use, if the phone is broken or lost.0 -
snippet on Zerohedge - a Russian bank has suspended all cash payments for a week. However yesterday there was a report that said a Chinese bank had done the same and that was a hoaxIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Ooh, and I noticed another one: spare sim card to a different network. I'm sure someone knows if that will be of any use here in the UK

I'd love to acquire a spare SIM card for a different network, but the problem is that if you don't regularly use the thing they disconnect the number.
Anyone found a way round that?0 -
Orange only requires you to make/receive one call every 3 months.
Regarding the HSBC cash drawing limit, I've made enquiries at my local branch and, apparently there is indeed a limit for over the counter cash withdrawals, but the limit changes regularly, sometimes daily.
This suggests to me, that the limit is set according to how much has been withdrawn and deposited, during the previous day/week/month etc.
If there have been lots of large withdrawals and few deposits, then the limit will go down, but if there have been few large withdrawals and lots of large deposits, the limit will go up.0 -

How do people buy food and drink, pay bills, and get to work and back, without money for a week
Some years ago, my company's BACS payment was delayed, for just a few days, and some people were borrowing cash from colleagues, just to put enough fuel in their cars, to get to work and back.0 -
I've just been looking at a row of empty ASDA Smart Price sauce bottles, currently standing on my kitchen window lodge, awaiting a trip to the recycling bin, and having a bit of a muse (I enjoy a good muse
) and wondering if I could put them to some use.
Any thoughts?0 -
I would use them to store HM fruit juice (pastuerised). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

According to the OH, who is a bit of an expert reckons as long as it's a flat beer then yes, they should be fine, but if it's for 2nd fermentation then no. He said you'd be better off with plastic bottles with dimpled bottoms for a gassy beer.
I know I've just set myself up for oo-er missus comments with the mention of a dimpled bottom, but that was his phrase, not mine:DGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
Who on earth would drink flat beer :huh:0

I tried reusing smart price tomato sauce bottles for bottling rosehip syrup as it was the cheapest way of getting hold of suitable sized bottles. The syrup was totally tainted with the vinegary smell even though I boiled and bleached and bicarbed the caps three times over before using them.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
