It was so nice here today I dried two loads of washing on the line then 4.00 the sky darkened and 4.30 we had a hail storm, driving rain and howling wind

:D We should all aspire to flat bottoms, WCS.

OMG - huge crack of thunder outside. And it's only raining lightly. Didn't know that was forecast.

If I disappear all of a sudden, it'll be because the storm got worse and I decided to turn the PC off.

    Tally ho!

where's the rolly eye icon when you need it?????
Dark and snowy here - my fisherman is home early though - apparently huge crashes of thunder and lightening right over the boat - eek!!

I've had hellish weather all day, seems to be calmer now but too dark to see out. Am sat in recliner with laptop and tarot cards, with tealights along the mantlepiece. Will miss the dark and the candles when spring comes.
My dire emergency meal is soup as well, just chuck whatever veg there is into the pot with stock cubes (I keep a big stash of these), lentils, barley, and bits of bacon.

Oof, just slipped over in the duck pen whilst putting the ducks away, the ground is so wet it's like a skating rink. No damage done except to my pride, lucky the ground is so soft :D

Another two wheel barrow loads of (free) wood chopped up and stored for drying today; if we lose power or our oil gets ransacked at least we can stay warm.

We've got a lovely fire going just now and have closed all the curtains so we've no reason to go outside again until tomorrow now.

On the subject of fires, does anyone have any suggestions for cookware which can be used on an open fire? It's not a very big hearth.
  • katep I have a smallish dutch oven -it's perfect for loads of things, plus a cast iron sandwich toaster which makes perfect toasties and cooks bacon etc. I use them fairly routinely and there isn't much I can't cook between them.

Mar I think my stove is like yours? a HA one? (was put in before I bought the house) - I just wait until the coals are glowing red and then use it with the doors open - stuff cooks really quick in it - a chicken takes less than an hour, stews 30 - 40 mins as its really hot!

Daftmummy nice to see you back, hope the year improves for you

I am having Sky Box and dish installed so I can have BT Sport with my Plusnet Broadband Package.
Does Sky have to be plugged into my Phone point. The downstairs point is 18 ft away from the TV.
    Thank you.
