Herring hanging by own tails: self resilience, looking after yourself, not expecting TPTB to do it all for you... oh, and probably something to do with kippering fish as they get hung by the tail.

:) Done the accounts. Will save the pie chart for another day, don't want to over-excite myself. Spent £1.92 more on food than council tax these past 12 months.

And that includes a lot of grub in the stores, and a lot of non-food household items like T.P Mountain for £65.75 per month. I guess I shall be able to continue archery at £10/week. Twang!!!

OK, NY Eve; have bailed out from party invitations (don't do late nights with M.E.) and have snuggled down at the homestead with some beer, some edibles and a solitary surviving mince pie and some murder mysteries.

:D I'm happy with my lot. Hope whatever you guys and gals are doing with your N Y Eve, that it makes ya happy, too.

I'm cosied in with a bottle of Cointreau, a cherry slab cake, and a supernatural demon (book). Happy!
  • OK, so the battery life test, on two torches (9 LED miniature torch and Single LED large hand torch) started at 1710hrs, on 31st December 2013.

Let's see how long they keep going.

My rezzies involve making every penny squeal for mercy before it's allowed out of my purse, refinining my archery (I shot a bauble, I may have mentioned this? :o:))
Loving the idea of shooting a bauble :rotfl::rotfl: I do have a Barnetts posh catapult somewhere, I may have to play with excess baubles to christen it :p
Just done the accounts for 2013 and have spent less than I earned in 11 out of 12 months. This is always good. The odd-month-out was holibobs. Native county holibobbing should cure that, particularly if I make it back home to my own bed each night.

And I can road-test my BOB and routes out of the city and towards the hometown. If I took a day-and-a-bit, I could amble over there. Heck, given Nat Express's pricing policy, I may well have to.
I love doing that! In my case they're mostly bug-home routes - I've several local towns I visit regularly, and one of the first things I did when I got into prepping was think, how would I get home if the power went down? I work with google and footpath maps, but there's nothing like walking the ground yourself. The exceptional bug-out route, is to my sister's, which is a fair hike, but doable. (And congratulations on the accounts, by the way).

I bailed out last year - no illness, just didn't want to do it *again*, I had a wonderful time and I felt good the next day. Don't really want to do it two years in a row, so I'll have to be a millionaire or something next year, so I can tell those concerned I'm in Goa or somewhere :D

And if shtf tonight, well, at least I'm with friends. And I'll still have my torch, and my windup radio,

Have stocked up a bit on Bread flour and passata and olive oil. Oh and chocolate obvs..

Happy new year one and all.

Oooh just remembered a bottle of beer in the pantry and lemonade in the fridge, may just go mad and make us a shandy - I know how to push the boat out :rotfl:

Love the idea of shooting baubles, made me laugh my socks of...hastily put back on as its bloomin cold here.

As for resolutions...hmmm... carry on making lists that actually get ticked off - been very successful this year.

Do more fleabay sales to pay off my only debt - worked out I can save loads by making a payment of £500 thus cutting the interest right down and gaining a year - 'oh no' said idiot phone banker type person - 'Oh yes' said human teller type person in branch. I explained to both the fragility of Oh's life expectancy and my dire need to be debt free - only the human one understood.

Keep on prepping, growing, making do and mending.

Buy a cd player - random but with possible change in circumstances I would lose my beloved sky and need something to calm the inner crazy woman.

Other than that carry on enjoying the fellowship of my online buddies who keep me borderline sane and well fed with necessary skills/information.
