I forgot the other thing we do which makes me feel really Christmassy is when OH makes the Christmas wreath.
No metal frames or moss or the other stuff you are supposed to pay out for in a "craft" store to make one. We go for a walk and he forages the various bits he needs, comes home and disappears into the garage and makes it. The only bit not all natural is sometimes he adds some Crimbo ribbon bought cheap from the Jan before.
He is definitely more artistic than me and it always looks good. Last year couldn't find any holly with berries, but found some rosehips still looking plump and red so they got added in.

You have the following cooking facilities: Gas hob, gas oven, microwave, and a water tap. No refrigeration or freezers. You have one shopping trip to buy food that will sustain you for the next 2 years. What do you buy, and what type of things do you eat/cook?
The best ideas have a) lots of healthy, nutritious food b) cheap and c) tasty
Let's hear your ideas!
Pot noodles X 730.0 -
Tins of dog/cat food and some pot noodles.
After you have eaten all the dog/cat food the potnoodles will taste the same in 2 years as they do today (yuk)
Do i win?
Tinned veg, tinned fruit, Jars of cooking sauces. Packets of rice. Makes me wonder how much room you would need for 2 years worth of food all in one go.
Tinned potatoes and soup, Packet rice and jars of curry sauce, Tinned meat and veg for a stew.

Hi ALL,
I done quite along post yesterday, and the puter went awol:mad:
It was mainly about with the typhoon in the phillipines would japan potentially get the tail end of it, like we do sometimes when there is a big storm etc in the usa??
Also I asked is there any food, or food products that we import from the surrounding countries? even though I am going to try and just buy british products sometimes, if a product is prepared or mixed etc in the uk, it can still have foreign proucts in there, and still be classed as british:mad:.
Then this morning I see this on Fbook

ok it could be someone going ott on their blog etc, BUT it just shows that people in the us are really concerned about it all too... and some totally mixed randam comments at the bottom of the piece tooWork to live= not live to work0 -
Well, the list either has to be huge as it's been thought about, or short as it's a forum and nobody reads long/proper posts.
I am assuming you also get bowls/baking trays and dishes..... and saucepans, frying pan.
So, my quick answer is:
Noodles, rice, oats, dried milk
Jars: Jam, lemon curd, golden syrup
Tinned: peas, baked beans, carrots, new potatoes, tomatoes, pineapple, tuna, chick peas, kidney beans. Rice pudding, carnation milk.
Packets: Instant mash, stuffing mix, cup a soups, couscous, instant batter mix
Pastas: Mix of colours and shapes of dried pasta/lasagne sheets
Herbs, salt/pepper, tomato puree, spices, stock cubes
Flour, baking powder, suet, yeast
Pulses/dried fruits: various beans, sultanas, mixed fruit
Drinks: coffee, sugar
Cereals: Weetabix, honey nut cornflakes
Nuts: salted peanuts
Sweeties: Oh yes
Misc: Instant gravy, instant curry sauce
That list is long enough. It wouldn't be hard to stock up and eat only those things..... to be honest, the HARD bit about living on what you buy today would be if every other bugg4h was bragging about their fab meals each day because they had the fridge/freezer you didn't.
Anybody can live under any circumstances .... so long as everybody else is. The trouble comes when you're the only one living on such stuff.0 -
