  • I suspect she has, at least, a third and fourth owner.

In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised, if she's homed and fed by the entire street.

Just heard a meowing, and buggalugs was sitting at the front door.

She doesn't look half starved so, either someone has been feeding her, or (not that likely at this time of the year) she's been feeding herself, on the local wildlife.

She was also quite warm and dry, so I'm guessing she has been under shelter, somewhere fairly local.

BB - we have a 7-year old, neutered male cat who, every summer for the past three years, has 'disappeared' around about the end of June and returns home early-mid September. We are very rural and I assume that he just lives wild, living on mice 'n stuff. Can anyone throw any light on this?

Maybe he has another family that either take him on holiday with them or put him in a cattery while they are on their travels?

:) Do you have school age children? I wonder if the Mog has bailed out to avoid them in the school holidays?

I've known cats be so offended by the arrival of children, or a new baby, that they move out entirely and rehome themselves. They're strange and uncanny critters, that's for sure.

  • My car is seriously frozen up this morning.

I'm talking a good 1/8"+ of ice on the windscreen.

Have moved it into the sun, to defrost, while I get ready to go out.

ETA: Just checked, and it's ice free, in just 6 minutes of being in the sun.

A few years back we had a gorgeous grey moggy. One summer she disappeared just when the travellers who had camped out at the local park left. We didn't put two and two together (and of course maybe make 5) until the following year she turned up out of the blue at the back door when the travellers came back!

She stayed very close to home after than and never vanished again. We will never know for sure where she was or what adventures she had, we were just very happy to have her home safe and sound.

  • Cats are free spirits, who come and go when they feel like it.

Some go and never come back, but that's the way cats are.

Frozen here too neighbour lol. OH had to defrost. Kids off to school with woolly hats/gloves and scarves-I am prepped as I have bags hung up under the stairs-with the coats. I have a bag for hats (winter and summer) a bag for scarves, and a bag of gloves. Having had 4 kids have gathered up quite a collection over the years, but worth having a few sets in different sizes as they get the wet/dirty or lose them on a regular basis lol.

OH defrosted the car, not himself-although he was freezing when he came in, wasn't best pleased when he sneaked up behind me in the kitchen and put his freezing hands around me to warm up lol.
Guess its the male equivalent of the boy at school sticking snow down your back.

I knew some neighbours a few years back whose beloved moggy disappeared. They walked the streets, put up posters etc and after a few months gave up. Got themselves 2 new kittens and carried on with life. Over 2 years later said moggy just reappeared at the back door and sauntered in like nothing had happened :rotfl:.

Quicky asserted himself in charge of the two younger females and settled back home. No one knows what had happened to him or where he had been, but their vet reckoned he had at some point had a fracture in one leg which had been treated and healed-very probably around when he disappeared.

We speculated he perhaps had wondered out the cul-de-sac onto the main road and been hit by a car, taken to a vet who had ended up perhaps giving him to a rehoming charity?

Then later once rehomed he had taken it upon himself to up sticks and wander back "home". Who knows lol.

I think we all know we don't own our cats, they own us ;).
