Honda Jazz. Should get a good one on your budget from 2009ish...

Nippy around town, decent (if not great) economy/running costs, easy to park, good spec/equipment levels, very versatile, nice wide-opening doors for children, good load space...If you get the higher models, you'll get the panoramic sunroof, too...which will keep toddles happy for hours, spotting birds and aeroplanes from the back :)

i wouldnt touch the jazz, alot of plastic not very comfortable, and besides a gearbox is very expensive to replace and are a common failure to go from around 30 40k if it havent gone after that then your on borrowed time. labour times in replacing it is 4-6 hours and a recon replace should set someone back around £900-1400 add on labour and vat after and your pockets and bank account is very empty.
