Cause the fee's for this hotel, are half the price for what it is in the centre of Barcelona, also it will be quieter?

Porta Fira for your dates is currently showing at £120-odd for your dates on LateRooms. The Continental is 204 euros, about £160.

Barcelona is not a place to go for peace and quiet, but even the central hotels do have glass in the windows, and air con! But personally I love the rooms overlooking Las Ramblas at the Continental, you can sit on your balcony sipping complimetary beer and watch the whole world passing beneath you. Lovely! Wish I was there now...

NYE is manic. At Placa Catalunya they close the streets near the top of La Rambles and everyone throws bottles and glass into the streets. Yes, smashed glass everywhere.
Be very aware of the pick pockets, we were leaving the Hard Rock about 12:30 walking past the glass throwers and I felt someone put his hand in my back pocket. I turned around and my wife saw him handing something to someone, who then handed it to someone else, I pushed the guy up against the wall and heard my wife shouting for me to let him go. She had started screaming at the guy who had last been passed something to give it back, a crowd gathered and the guy gave her a 10 euro note that the guy I had hold of had taken out of my pocket. She's a hero my wife.
Anyway we walked away and these 4 immigrant guys just kept following us probably waiting for us to leave the crowds so that they could do us over. We had to get the police to escort us to our hotel.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • is there fireworks aswell?

Not in Placa Catalunya, but you do have to eat one grape every second while the clock strikes twelve.:D

It is a tradition in Spain, don't know the foundation of it but if you are in any restaurant or some bars they hand out a little bag of grapes just before midnight. At every stroke of the bong you have to eat one grape, sounds easy but you try it.:D

I've been in Plaza Catalunya on NYE for the bottle throwing and it really is an amazing spectacle, just stay out of the middle of the Plaza.
