Hi, I am 24 weeks pregnant and left work before i discovered that i was pregnant as i was working as a carer on the community and my car broke and couldn't afford to fix it. I am currently claiming ESA due to complications in my pregnancy, I also have a three year old son and do not no if i am entitled to any help as i cannot afford to buy all the essentials for my new baby on the money i am recieving at the minute. I am also unsure what i will be entitled to when at 30 weeks as i live with my partner and he doesn't work as he looked after my son when i was in work PLEASE HELP !!! XX THANKS X

  • Either a wind up or a ridiculous situation to be in. Check direct gov website for entitlement and do a claim for JSA online. Not sure if you can apply for anything else but it is all on the website anyway.
    Good luck.

I think you would get more sympathy if you changed the title of your thread to something like:

Please help - I'm pregnant and unemployed.

    Or:
How do I go about financing the repairs to my car to ensure I can stay employed.

I'm sure many of the taxpayers on here will help you, your current family and the new addition by default.

Sorry - I don't have any sympathy for you.
  • Your as entitled to have a child as the next person. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
I think you would be better off going to the CAB who will do a full benefits check for you.I think you are entitled to at least one or maybe two maternity grants. Your Health Visitor or a Sure Start centre would know as well as the CAB.
Make sure that you claim all you can because remember you have worked and paid into the system too.

I am not disputing the rights of the OP to have a child - what many workers and tax payers may take exception to is having to pay for it!

Probably figured out it's more profitable to just keep knocking the Mrs up.

    .

You have no choice in the matter though do you? Absolutley none at all.Even if a woman chose to have 10 kids and never work a day in her life.Thats the way it is.
Taxpayers have to pay, so there you are. In fact they should pay more really as often we cant manage on our benefits and have to resort to borrowing etc.

And there lies the problem. What an attitude.

Is it any wonder why genuine people who want to work are tarred with the same brush as those who have no intention of doing so and are quite content to breed like rabbits as a means of income?

There is no shame in telling people you have lost your job because of redundancy - I would not have the audacity to tell someone I packed in work because my car broke down and then go on a public forum asking what benefits I am entitled to.

One word - budgeting. Benefits for parents are more than generous, if you choose to get into debt it is your own fault.
