A lot really depends on whether you trust anyone enough with the news re the hen party....could you pwehaps tell one person who could look out for your drinks and help deflect potential questions....otherwise just tell everyone that its a hen party that you want to remember .... you might also want to consider your reply to the questioning that someones bound to ask even if jokingly about not drinking and being pregnant...otherwise potentially as soon as its asked your reaction may give you away....
if you are looking for an excuse for not drinking then it could be along the lines of the dress not fitting quite as well as you would like so you need to lose a couple more pounds before the wedding...that way you are able to also not only avoid the drink but maybe any non pregnancy friendly foods too.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

            Congratulations!
Is your mum coming on the hen do? Assuming she can keep a secret, maybe you can tell her and she can do the "mum thing" of making sure everyone has drinks. That way she'll be pouring yours all night?0

            Congrats on your news!
I agree with the others who have said metronidazole (also known as flagyl) for a toothache. The advantage of this is if you start having morning sickness and are really queasy you can say you had a quick drink before you caught up with them and you are feeling rough so just going to stick to soft drinks. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

That's what I was going to suggest as an excuse for not drinking at the hen.

congrats! I found out I was pregnant two days before my work xmas party.... I just played along like I was drinking (it was a free bar) but was on lemonade, not vodka/lemonade. I also was so ill the next morning, the thought I had the worst hangover in the company! Hilarious!
It totally depends on the format for your hen really at how you can get away with it... if it is wine tasting then prob not a chance - my friend found out 2 days before her hen and she said that she was having a wrap thing to lose weight ... it meant she couldnt drink for three weeks to have the best weight loss... if my friend said she was on antibiotics for her hen so couldnt drink I personally would immediately get suspicious! but that may just be me ;-P xxx0

Congratulations! One of my work mates was pregnant over Christmas and when we had our Christmas night out she had a glass of wine that she just pretended to drink from - we didn't even notice! :rotfl:We just thought that it had been topped up a few times and that's why she hadn't finished it. Honestly, we saw her every day at work and no one twigged at all so people are not as observant as you think! :rotfl:
I have had metronidazole a few times as well for an infection around my wisdom tooth and you are not allowed to have even a drop of alcohol or you will be sick. They actually prescribe it to alcoholics to stop them drinking!
You'll be fine, and I'm sure no one will notice! 0 0

            Thanks everyone.
Update on the dress... Firstly (and most importantly) I love it :j:j
And secondly, despite it being a zipped back there was loads of room in it (if anyone ever asks me for dress shopping tips I will tell them to go after xmas like I did to ensure it comes back roomy!). Told the dress maker the situation and she is just going to alter the length and shoulders for now, i have another fitting 10 days before the wedding to take it in at the sides and so can fit to any size I need
 So thats one problem solved.
Also spoke to BM and confessed all (decided there was no way I could do the hen weekend with it a complete secret). She was VERY excited and said not to worry about drinking. They have sorted all the alcohol for the cottage and most of it is a cocktail-style table and so will be easy to drink mocktails with noone noticing :beer:0

I was 5wks pregnant when I got married although, I didn't know - I would say, that on the day, try and take it a bit easy and get lots of seats throughout the day rather than standing - as I got to about 10pm and was really fading - and with 3hrs still to go I was a bit fed up (although had no idea why....!!) Congratulations! glad you've got it sorted out. on the plus side your b**bs should look amazing for the big day! have you considered telling your guests at the wedding? that might be a nice surprise for you and your OH to announce there is one more guest here. obviously you'd have to tell the nearest and dearest before hand so not to offend~ Team Sticky ~
