5.5 weeks til the wedding... pregnant!

Hi everyone

Had some amazing yet terrifying news at the weekend - I am pregnant!:o:eek::j Don't know how far yet, somewhere between 4&8 weeks.

We are really pleased, but with 5.5 weeks until the wedding it does cause a few complications. I am seeing my dress for the first time on Friday and really hoping the shop lady has some constructive suggestions... I don't think I should be showing by then, but I'm already feeling bloated and my jeans etc are tight.

Was just hoping someone could share any similar experiences (or am i the only one so bl00dy daft?)

Also, does anyone have any ideas how I can avoid drinking on my hen weekend without telling everyone about it?

    Congratulations!!

Is your dress very fitted? or could it be let out slightly?

Just say you have a bit of a tummy but and on anti biotics from the doctor so not allowed to drink with them?

    Congratulations!

I second the advice re: antibiotics - and say you don't want to drink on them so close to the wedding as you need them to work!

PS - I would look up some anitbiotics so you can name if they start questioning!

It depends how much of a drinking you normally are if they suspect anything or not!

The dress - don't stress about it, I'm sure they can let it out, if not, you'll think of something.

    Congrats again

    Congratulations

It depends on the dress. I brought my dress 18 months before the wedding. I then fell pregnant. I had my baby in march and marry end of the month. My dressmaker changed it from a zip to a corset as then it would give me room to lose weight, or in your case to put it on. I didn't start to show until four months but everyone is different.

Again tell everyone you are on antibiotics and that you can't risk it this close to the wedding xxxx

    Congratulations!!!!

I was going to suggest the antibiotics too. When I found out I was pregnant I had a works night out a few days later and told anyone who asked why I wasn't drinking I had a stomach ulser and was taking tinidazole. Taking tinidazole with alcohol can cause severe sickness just in case you need to know.

I did some research on antibiotics (and stomach ulsers) because I was worried someone would ask what was wrong and what I was taking and I did not want to be caught out. As it happens one of the managers did ask me what was wrong and what I was taking. I was glad I did my research as he had taken tinidazole for a stomach ulser before, he apparently had a few drinks whilst taking it and it did indeed make him ill.

Yes and check carefully to make sure you can find one that you actually can't drink on - most you can!

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!! at least it's not TOO close to the wedding. This is one of my biggest fears, accidentally falling pregnant in the next 8 months (if I get pregnant on my wedding night though then that's perfect!). I hope you can get the dress sorted - I'm sure you will. And CONGRATULATIONS again!!! :D

    Thanks everyone for the congratulations!

I don't think the antibiotics excuse will work really. My friends all know that you can drink on most types, and making up a specific condition requiring a strong antibiotic seems a bit extreme really. I'm not a massive drinker anyway, and am known to be stubborn if people 'expect' me to drink more than I want to. The weekend is in a cottage and so there will be plenty of other non-drinking activities. I think I'll just fill my wine glass with schloer and assume noone will actually care that much to notice!

I can't remember if my dress is lace up or not, I am really hoping it is but will find out on Friday!

    Hey hon
I'm pregnant at the min too. Congratulations!

Just wanted to throw some other potential issues in there
What are you planning on eating whilst on your hen?
And what food do you have planned for your wedding day?

I hope you don't get morning sickness but if you do, snack on ginger biscuits and try wearing a sea sickness travel band on your wrist.

Also meant to say, I was terribly bloated at the start of my pregnancy. By10/11 weeks that had subsided a little but then at 12 weeks I started to show. I mean actual uterus as opposed to wobbly bloated tummy. To try and reduce the bloating, make sure you drink lots and lots of water.

Ooh and where are you going on your honeymoon?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

I'd say just fill your glass with something else. I'm not sure anyone will even notice that you're not drinking really! If anyone picks up on it you can always say you'll have a glass of wine later and just never get round to it :)
