Leeds city council parking fine.......

Hi all I have just got back to the car to find a penalty notice on it. Basically just been to Leeds for the day, not familiar with the area and parked outside the carpark in the parking bays. Bought a ticket from the machine in thr carpark, valid until the next day. Anyhows the penalty notice has stated that the wrong machine was used. Speaking to a man that was at his car he said its the machine up the road and not the carpark one I should if used. A genuine mistake on my part, it is worth writing off the the council to try and get the penalty squashed? Any advice on how to go about it would be helpful too

Have they corrected the tickets yet ?
do they have two times, observed and time issued ?

How do you mean corrected the ticket?
The ticket says

Code 06 parked without clearly displaying a valid pay & display ticket or voucher
Date of contravention 10/07/12
Time 11:59
Location and car reg too

Then goes on about payment

Even if caught bang to rights, it is ALWAYS worth appealing any Council parking ticket IMHO. Most people win in the end but the Council won't tell you that!

Read the FAQs such as 'how to post pictures' and include in your first post, images of both sides of the PCN. Could just be a digital camera close-up of all wording except the PCN number and car reg, and make sure you include both sides, all the small print.

And a link to the bay at GoogleStreetView is good info to include as well. Just find the place, click on the chain icon and link the URL to your post so posters on pepipoo can see where you parked.

You may as well try an early appeal as most PCNs on the back, say that they will reoffer the discount if they reject an appeal received before day 14. So check out the back of the PCN and you should see that you'd have nowt to lose.

Bottom line though, is that most informal first appeals are routinely rejected, so if you really want to fight the ticket the discount is probably irrelevant. You will need to go further with your appeal and past that stage, in most cases.

But as I say, most people win - the VAST majority in fact, who bother to take it as far as adjudication.

Sorry it said time issued. I've just phoned the city of Leeds council and apparently the ticket I purchased was an NCP one and the street parking bays belong to Leeds city council. There is no signs says that they belong to different companies do it certainly wasnt clear. If I hadn't bought a ticket I wouldn't min but I did buy a ticket.

Does the ticket say time observed ?

Or does it have only ONE time written.

It has to say time observed:
Time issued :

To be legal.

Time issued 13:27
Leeds have lost hundreds of cases at adjudication because the tickets have only 1 time on.
What have you told them on the phone ? Did they ask for personal details ? You may have hung yourself, they dont do forgiveness, you have to fight them on the ticket.

It definitely only has one time on it but twice, one at the top and one further down on the payment slip.

No I didn't tell them any personal details, no details of the ticket either. Have you by any chance got a link to some info on it having to have 2 times to be legal please.

Without two times they can not prove it was not issued whilst you were queuing for a ticket......WINK

Very common this problem aroung templar street / edward street.

Huge open private car park, bordered all around with council on street parking bays, I see loads of cars with the wrong tickets in and a nice big yellow sticker on the windscreen.

I'm not having a go at the op but personally I dont see how you can get the two muddled up, I mean if you park on the street why would you go into a car park to get a ticket ?

Vac don't they take photos though on a digital camera? There was a ticket in the window from roughly an hour before. How do I go about fighting it? What do I say? Sorry ive never ha a ticket before so not sure how to go about it

Muckybutt stupidly I just saw the nearest ticket machine and associated the two. I had two hungry crying babies at the time too so my main priority was to get them sorted out. It was a stupid genuine mistake.
