Going To Court Tomorrow

  • thanks for your support - would you advise me to take all my money out of my account in case they do close it?

When you say it doesn't matter if you can't find all the papers they ask for? What papers are they likely to ask for?
  • I just had my first (very brief) call from the OR, seemed to be ok, said he will be calling tomorrow to let me know if my interview will be over the phone or in the office depending on how complex it is (fingers crossed that it will be the phone call option). He also advised me that even though I only have a basic account with Nationwide it would be closed and I would need to open up a new account, this is their policy for their office, no problem though as I only get one payment into this account so will just have to change it to my husbands account in future and stick to having my prepaid debit card (which costs much less than anything and I cannot get into any more debt). Guess each is different (or as Forrest Gump would say "life is like a box of chocolates...." ummm could do with a chocie actually).

Good luck with your call, it's such a relief to be sharing this time with people in the same boat (or those just disembarking).

  • I agree it is such a relief being able to chat to people in the same situation - I cannot believe how nice people have been and the advice they give you is so supportive and helps you cope that bit better - I just want to get this telephone call from the OR over now and then I can fully relax - I can feel myself getting into a frenzy now thinking about all the things he could say and probably worrying unnecessarily but to me it is a very big step in life to have to go down this road because I have never been in debt to this extent I have always managed to pay my way but unfortunately I ended up in a relationship with a person who just fleeced me dry both emotionally and financially and I am left to pick up the pieces on my own but like I have said before this forum has helped me no end.
  • The Yorkshire Bank - I only opened it about a month ago

Hi there..we opened an account with yorkshire bank (current account with maestro facility on it) about 6 weeks ago with a view to becoming bankrupt(will be on April 2). CAB told us to check their policy after bankrupcy, so we made an appointment and they were great about it, and have said that they will not freeze the account. It was a huge relief as we had switched all our direct debits etc to it. I sense they will be fine with you. But you still worry all the same. Wishing you well!

Just as a word of warning, sometimes giving too much information can cause problems.

It sounds like yorkshire bank will be ok but after our OR said they were happy with our accounts, I contacted Coop to give them the situation and they said they had to freeze and close our accounts as a matter of policy. However they did transfer monies and dd's after the OR contacted them on my pushing to say they weren't interested in our accounts and have been really helpful since.

Also had a problem when trying to save money on car insurance renewal as had 2 vehicles with different companies, contacted one to get a better quote and was asked the question are you/have been BR and was then told they couldn't give me a quote and would have to pay my existing insurance in full which was due the following month as their dd company wouldn't deal with BR's. We have an ex post office minibus as large family and NFU were only company we could get to insure it in the first place so were a bit stuffed.

Sorry to be negative but I am learning to keep my mouth shut on certain things - but finding it difficult!!!:rotfl:

  • that is terrible - it just shows it doesn't pay to be honest and above board - the more I see and hear about how the system works I now believe that it is best to be sparing with the truth and that gets you a lot further in life than the whole truth!!!!

It is very very hard to live a life like that when you have always been straight and honest

We were told that it was advisable to have any decisions from bank regarding this IN WRITING.

It`s very easy to renege on a verbal agreement.
