I was parked in a disabled bay (I don't hold a badge) but it was like 9.15pm, the gym closes at 10pm and there were like 6 other empty disabled bays (there were only around 10 cars in the whole car park) I only parked there because it was raining so badly that I didn't want to get drenched before I'd even got into the gym. Would that count against me? Or have any consequence?
We wouldn't condone parking in disabled bays if you're not disabled, but the fact is that the blue badge scheme only applies to official car parks run by statutory bodies, eg councils. Similarly the "disabled bay" has no legal standing, as it isn't covered by the TSGRD, it's there as a courtesy.

As others have said, you and your dad need to ignore these fake tickets, paying the scammers simply keeps them in business.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Maybe not one of your better decisions, but not the crime of the century.

Disabled bays in a private car park are, legally, nothing more than a parking bay with a picture of a stick man in a wheelchair painted on them.

The Blue Badge scheme doesn’t apply to private car parks. Anyone, who’s disabled under the terms of The Equality Act 2010 can use a disabled parking bay. If they’re also Blue Badge holders, they don't need to display it.

The Equality Act also doesn't say that able-bodied drivers can't also use disabled parking bays. OK, they shouldn't, but they can. It's a nice idea not to take the last one, though.

Which you apparently didn't. So, you didn't inconvenience any disabled drivers.

If it was a free car park, then you don't owe the car park owner anything.

If it was a pay & display car park and you didn't pay, then you do, strictly speaking, owe the car park owner what you should've paid. However, one could argue that they, by their agent, namely the PPC, demanding more, have waived their right to the lower amount.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

But they got his numberplate wrong...seems all too convenient.

    Nice try by the OP.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Lol I'm not even joking, when I signed in online to make the payment, the numberplate was really different. So I decided to have a search on the forums and see what I could do to avoid it. Im going to probably write to them and give them my address (since I may be going to uni in september) and let them chase me there.

And if you write to them and don't pay they will only go back to the registered keeper for payment, you seem to think you are dealing with a business with ethics or a statuary body like a council. If they look at the images they likely have taken and realised their mistake by this time the letters are on the way. Better to educate your father on this one by bringing him here.

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

If the wrong plate exists then they will probably hound the registered keeper of a tractor in the other part of the country and won't put 2 and 2 together to work out that they have made a mistake.
