The Bob Martin one is unlikely to be effective. Have you checked the ingredients? I suggest you save yourself a whole heap of misery and buy the Indorex.0
-
Yes your right
Indorex contains Permethrin (rapidly kills adult fleas), Pyripoxyfen (controls growth of eggs and larvae from fleas and house dust mites), piperonyl butoxide (reinforces the action of permethrin).
The Bob Martin just contains permethrin0 -
I've suggested they buy this powder for the carpets, it's only £3.50 from Tesco so they should be able to afford that, might get some myself.
Bob Martin Home Flea Kill 350G
ALL Bob Martin's stuff is a waste of time & money not to mention potentially dangerous as well, that's why France has banned them.0 -
Isn't it just the Bob Martin flea collars they banned?
I know one of the dogs is feeling ill, but they have only used the Indorex on the bedding, and some other direct insecticide on the dog recommended by the vet up to now.0 -
Just come back from their house. All the house is filthy to the core, but one of the bedrooms was seriously thick with dust and torn carpet, it looks as if it hasn't been cleaned for years. Strangely enough I only found one live flea, quite a large one full of blood though, on the carpet next to the dog bed which had been treated with the Indorex.
Told them I had found one, "what do you mean" I have found a flea "what do you mean you have found one"... Dooooh! and so on the Denial continues. Neither could I get a single flea to jump on me in their house. They seemed to think it was hilarious that I was getting them to jump on me in my house because they thought I was the dog.
I suggested they get some more Indorex, 'It's too expensive" came the reply, "it costs £50". Deliberate lies of course, you can get it delivered for £10 from Amazon, I've bought a bottle for my house. Discovered also that they had missed the dogs 3 monthly flea drops. Left one of them in the pub showing of his new Samsung Galaxy to the bar staff, complete with new chip which stores all his music in one place - evidently!
Dog getting better now anyway, I guess they had saturated the bedding with Indorex and the dog had an OD. She came out to greet me and was eating, running and playing ball by midday though.0 -
When is the best time to vaccum after this stuff has been applied? I wan't to clear up any dead fleas, and presumably still living pupae unable to hatch, yet don't which to 'dilute' the effect of the chemicals which are now presumably embedded into the carpet.
Not clear about this on can.
EDIT - Oh well I have vaccumed now, has to be done sometime.0 -
Vacuuming will encourage the pupae to hatch. Expect to see a few more adult fleas before the Indorex gets a grip on them.
Meanwhile stay out of that other flea-ridden house or you could risk bringing them back with you. Over and over0 -
Buy a steamer, they only make things slightly mildly damp and the fleas dont like getting boiled to death.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

After almost a week free, I noticed one on my foot about 3am, and another at 7am this morning when getting up, both after walking on the shag pile, although they seemed to drop rather than jump when touched. Definitely fleas and not fluff though.
I will give it another vaccum, spray then leave it this time. Sure it is just a few of the beggars maturing out of the shag pile in the bedroom, which is the source. If this specific carpet was removed there wouldn't be a problem I'm sure.0 -
Indorex not very effective with shag pile carpets evidently, they are now popping out a day after spraying, only ones and twos though, but they have to be vaccumed each time. The neighbours must think I have an obsessive compulsive disorder for keeping the place clean.
I have placed some double sided tape on cardboard on the floor. Trapped a few then stepped on it Aaaaargh!
Sent this to the people with the filthy carpets. If this doesn't make them clean the house nothing will!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjj77PcAa84
