I got fleas after working in a customers house as an cable engineer, the house was particularly honking (dog was eating out of a food crusted sweetie tin, that much I remember!)
I ended up stripping off in the hallway of my apartment block & burning my uniform, still didn't stop me taking them into my flat.
I had to get my van fumigated & my home cleaned...I also work around dogs & cats at the local animal shelter, not had a problem as yet..

So were these human or dog fleas? The former can live on you the latter aren't supposed to, but I'm not so sure now! Just seen a massive one crawl down my arm (but I was cleaning and flapping blankets earlier), definitely a trip to the pet place!

3 days later and you still have them. Get the powerful insecticide out on them. I have used Indorex in the past. Bit expensive but it keeps them away. You can get it online for delivery on Monday for a bit less.

and...just wash everything as normal all on one weekend.

Not too sure, all I know was I was itching within minutes of leaving the house & the place was honking! I do remember the was loads or roach butts around the electric fireplace...
And old Orbit the cat got them as well after I got home & I saw them jumping in the van,Thankfully I've not had a reoccurance of them since then in my home..

You're not likely to have caught human fleas and dogs can catch the cat ones and bring them inside with them. If there are never going to be any animals in your home ever again they will not be able to live for long. They will try to bite you but cannot live on human blood. Personally, I wouldn't want to tolerate waiting that long.

Give everywhere the dogs have been a really good vacuuming. Wash all pet-bedding in hot water or get rid of it. Then use a proper household insecticide available from the vet. Skoosh or Acclaim or similar and use it on all carpeting and soft-furnishings. Hard floors can be washed with a dilute bleach solution.

I got really good results with Johnsons 4Fleas, the one with an Insect Growth Hormone Regulator thingummy which prevents the fleas from being able to breed once they hatch.

Unfortunately I do look after dogs from time to time, and their house is filthy rarely cleaned ahnd will be teeming, so I won't be able to look after them until I am satisfied it has been treated. Better to treat them with a anthrocide such as cyanide perhaps! :)

Just had a word with the owners, they finally took both dogs to the vet, and she gave them something to put on them. They also bought something called indoorex spay and spayed the dogs beds. However, they refuse to treat the carpets since "it is too expensive". They insist no fleas jump on them, perhaps they prefer the dogs!

Told them I was infested with fleas "Where did they come from then?" Idiots!

Yes Indorex that's what I used and it is expensive but it does the trick.

Maybe the fleas just don't like them and prefer the dogs instead. Have you ever noticed when at a friends place and everyone is outside around the BBQ late in the evening that mosquito's tend to like one or two people and leave everyone else alone....same with fleas...they prefer the dog and leave the humans alone.

"They sprayed the dogs beds" In which case it's going to take months and months to get to grips with the infestation. Meanwhile treat your own home and do not have the dogs anywhere near it. These people are too stupid to live. And cruel to their animals.

I've suggested they buy this powder for the carpets, it's only £3.50 from Tesco so they should be able to afford that, might get some myself.
