Another one that is so very touching but if it helps in any way ..........
    I Stood By Your Bed

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep

I whined to you softly As you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, Your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to re-assure you, That I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, As you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me"

You looked so very tired, And sank into a chair, I tried so hard to let you know, That I was standing there.

It's possible for me, To be so near you every day. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, Then smiled, I think you knew… In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

An when the time is right for you, To cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you, And we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, There is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out…

Then come home to be with me.

So sorry to hear about your dog, it's a difficult decision to make. Im going through a similar thing with my old cat, 21 yrs, she is not good this week and I think she has given up, but Im hoping she will go in her sleep.
    Hugs to you

Oh I am so, so sorry for your loss. I lost my girl a year ago and I still miss her desperately. We wanted it to be at home but ended up at the vets in the middle of the night.

You know you have done the right thing and you know he had a good life. Take comfort from that. Cry as much as you want you have the right to grieve for a good friend.

    Sending hugs.

I am so sorry for your loss - I've had my heart broken time after time with our beloved oldies. But I firmly believe that it is better a day too early than a day too late.

Be sad that he is no longer with you - but be glad that he will stay with you forver in your heart x

I'm so, so sorry, WolfSong. I'm sitting here in tears, for your Chance, and my Henry, for whom I had to make the same decision just over a month ago.

Thank you everyone for your kind words...I've been running around all day doing errands and before that had to bury the old boy..."pup" (one year old Golden Retriever) was noticeably upset and tried to get into the grave. He's still grieving now, poor boy.

Am absolutely exhausted now, but have to be up early tomorrow as my family are all away (mother left this afternoon), so I am left to feed and walk dogs, feed the new donkeys my mother recently bought and try and make it to London for a job interview. Then straight back home to do the same again....normally this isn't a problem, but I've been crying all day and had very little sleep the last few nights. Just have to try and keep it together until the weekend.

    Thanks again, everyone.

Thank you Wolfsong for sharing, the way you wrote down your feelings had me crying, yet helped me let out some of the grief I've been holding in for my old boy who was PTS 5 weeks ago.

I hope the job interview goes well, if you are feeling a bit down and weepy, explain to the interviewer why - chances are they are a pet owner too.

Well, wolfsong, if only all our tears (including mine) could help you but I know that the awful loss will take time to adjust to.

Its terrible, I say every time, never ever again will I go through this pain of loss, but well, you miss the wonderful love and company of your best friend and soon another little head is nuzzling up to you.

I do hope the pain eases soon and that you will be able to smile at the antics your boy got up to when he was fit and well.

    God bless xxx

So sorry for you. I'm sat here in tears myself reading your story, having lost our wonderful cat 3 weeks ago and my Dad 3 years ago today.

If we didn't care so much it wouldn't hurt so much, but we gave them a good life.
