SP40? Is that the "exceeding passenger vehicle speed limit" code?

Or after eleven years, depending on the offence.
Eleven years for some drink/drug related offences, yes - but he'd already said they were for speeding.

For those offences, even though the endorsement remains on your licence for 11 years, the conviction becomes spent after 5 years (unless you go to prison for it) and then does not have to be declared to insurers, even if they ask.

You can be disqualified for "totting up", that is, hitting 12 points, within any 3 year period.

So, if you get a further 6 points 3 years and 1 month from the date of offence, you will be fine.

Points can be removed from your license after 4 years from date of offence (for your SP40 anyway). You have to send your license to the DVLA to get them removed.

Insurance companies can ask about convictions for the last 5 years under the rehabiliation of offenders act, for SP40 etc.

If you are driving busses or something, you may find your employer asking you about all convictions, even spent ones, for life, as they will probably want to CRB check you.
