Door eased on Friday, sticking again today

    By seal do you mean paint? Does that include the base of the door because that would need to be done while it wasn't hung presumably?

    Yes: primer, undercoat, etc.
    To do it properly you need to seal all the edges.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    The door should have been fitted with at least 6mm clearance at the bottom. I usually leave a little more than that.
    Having left that sort of clearance , there should be no need to paint/seal the bottom edge.
    Forgotten but not gone.

    Would you normally trim (plane?) the top or bottom of the door or both?

    Plane only the bottom . All doors can withstand a small amount of trimming.
    If you still have the packaging it usually tells you the maximum amounts that can be removed on each edge.
    Forgotten but not gone.
