Door eased on Friday, sticking again today

I had a new door fitted on my bathroom a few weeks ago by someone who was also doing other work for me. It wasn't trimmed properly and was sticking on the bottom and also on the inside. It got worse as time went on to the point that it was difficult to close. I finally got him to come back to trim it again on Friday night and it seemed fine. However, I noticed tonight that is is sticking on the floor again. Nowhere near as bad as before, but it is still annoying. Is this normal? Do new doors expand in some way? Should I ask him to come back and adjust it again?

I would be very grateful for any advice.

If the door hasn't been sealed yet and you have a particularly steamy bathroom, it may well be absorbing slight amounts of steam in the atmosphere. You need to get the door eased again and then painted or varnished.

The door was a ready finished one from Wickes. However, the edges that were trimmed are obviously 'raw'. Would the underside of a door normally be painted? If so then it would obviously have to be painted before it was fitted, or am I being especially dense here (which is quite possible!)

I don't think the bathroom is especially steamy. It is very small but I have the window open as much as possible, especially when the shower is being used.

Ok. Auberge it just needs easing a bit more.

I've been googling it and trying to work out whether it was a technical term or an insult :rotfl:

Sounds odd for a door to swell that quickly, is it possible that it has dropped? Open the door a little and try to lift it near the handles and see if there is any movement in the hinges.

Can't see any movement in it. However, I have just noticed that the inside top corner of the door looks 'chipped', presumably where it was rubbing against the top of the door frame. I don't think it's just that some of the paint has come off as it also looks slightly 'dented'. The problem is that I'm no longer on speaking terms with the person who did the work - long story - and I have been left with lots of bitty jobs.

Given the amount of rain we've had recently (and the fact that it's in a bathroom) it's hardly surprising that it's picked up excess humidity if left unsealed.
Ease it again and then seal the open edges straightaway.
