Talk Talk phone & broadband package

I have an account for my land line with Talk Talk but my husband has a separate phone line and broadband with Virgin who we are happy with. My monthly phone bill is between £30 and £40. I was called by Talk Talk and told if I took the phone and broadband package my monthly bill would be £22.50. I explained my husband has Virgin broadband and was told I could still buy the package but not use the broadband so I assume I would just not connect up the equipment they are sending me but get cheaper bills. Have I done the right thing? Being as green as grass re technology I'm concerned that our current broadband service may be disrupted?

I'm a little lost at this deal. Talk talk do line rental for £14.50 with anytime calls for £4.71. assuming that your calls aren't mainly international, just that alone is cheaper than paying £22.50 for broadband too. Seems like you're being tricked a bit there.
There's a possibility the two wireless signals could interfere but if you're not planning on using talk talk broadband then you don't have to even plug the modem router on.Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0 -
Many thanks. Have cancelled the Essentials package and will move to a better plan.0

You can't have two broadband services on the same line. If the other service is VM cable then they will run together, as on entirely separate lines. If the other service is Virgin National (ADSL service), then it will be cancelled if you take TT (or any other) broadband service on that number.
Do you really need 2 landlines though? It's costing you nearly £500pa.
Line rental, Anytime calls and a broadband service should cost you no more than about £20 per month. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
TalkTalk Plus broadband and phone package is subject to status, acceptance & availability in your area.0

I was considering moving to Talk Talk because their package looked really good.
I asked about Talk Talk on another forum and the replies I received about TT Customer Service completely put me off the idea of moving.
But I phoned my present ISP, Plusnet, and said I was considering moving and they offered me an upgraded service at half price, which of course I accepted. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0
