Morning all,
Overcast here again, I managed to get three loads of holiday washing washed and on the line for an hour before the rain started, it at least had a bit of a blow, its now all on the airer and draped all over the conservatory.
Need to have a good clean through this morning, after I have dropped dd at work at 9, then I want to make a lemon drizzle cake, with the huge lemon I bought back from holiday, its like a small melon, I will then take some to my dad
Not sure about dinner, but I have some freshly dug new potatoes, carrots, and courgettes left, so it will involve them.
Have good days all xx
Pink how about smoothies with other fruit if they are tasteless xx0 -
Morning All
Still raining!
The Olympic torch went through our town at 7am this morning  needless to say I stayed in bed. I am already Olympic'd out and there are still 19 days before the main circus starts :(. I know I sound a misery but it has become too commercial, everyone is trying to make as much money as they can out of people and I am afraid that is not the spirit of the Olympics.
We were supposed to go to Bletchley today to get DH some T Shirts from Sports Direct, but the A5 is closed off until the cheese grater goes through, so we have decided to go tomorrow.
Pink-winged.....Sorry to hear that you have had such a rotten weekend and I hope that your poor DS recovers quickly. ((((((((Hugs)))))))

DH has been spending the last few days weatherproofing the new potting shed and there is now so much on it that it is almost a black colour but looks quite nice. Suggested he use up the remains of the tin on the small shed to spruce it up and make it tone in better.
Not raining today so he will probably be messing about in garden but has been promising for days to take me to Aldi and do a shop so might have to insist. Probably better to ask "Are we going to Aldi and bath showroom in morning or afternoon?" Then hold him to his answer.
No idea what to cook tonight as have to use up stuff in fridge. Might see what looks good when we go shopping and make a curry or chicken and mushroom pies with mash.
Youngest keeps saying she wants to be shown how to cook but never has time or inclination and I am not keen on the idea of her looking up something complicated, me schlepping out for expensive and never used again ingredients, me doing the peeling, chopping, measuring etc while she waves a wooden spoon about and the end result being an expensive and time consuming disappointment.
It seems sensible to give her a student cookbook and suggest she does something basic with what we have already but she does not like that idea. Quelle surprise!
Going to have a quick shower and see if my new trousers fit me (At a pound in catalogue sale seemed worth the chance. Also got embroidered skirt, cream rain jacket, nightshirt and pyjama trousers - all for £6).

jackieo sounds like a fab day out
butterflybrain i feel the same way about the Olympics and i foolishly believed that they would help the East End by letting local businesses have food stalls in the stadium, not just McD's
pink-winged your poor DS, hope it's not too painful for him today. When I had some naff blueberries I cooked them with some water and sugar into a thick sauce (still with relatively whole berries and not enough sugar to make jam) and used it on puddings and in natural yogurt like m*ller corners. It brought out the flavour and kept for about two months in jars in the fridge.
elona will she just help with family dinners? delegate some tasks or make pies alongside you?
Morning all. I went on a foraging walk yesterday and it was so slippy and muddy that to get up one steep bit all I could do was hang on to the fence and drag myself up :rotfl: I might go back later today once I've done everything on my list... DW, WM, clean kitchen, OU etcLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Good morning JackieO and all.
All in all i had a good weekend. Weather was a lot better than it had been of late and we were able to dodge the showers. We did all what we had to on Saturday and Sunday was left for us to play with.
Today i will be doing my usual Monday chores mixed with a stony silence between myself and my son as we had words last night... or rather he and his Dad had words and its left me slightly disappointed in him.
Still havent managed to make a rhubarb crumble (it will have to wait).
Many hugs and a happy Monday to you all,This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Good idea and will ask her if she wants to help me but have feeling she will be glued to favourite programme or popping out to see friend or on phone etc etc when I am cooking.
Decide not to stress about it and just say when she wants me to show her stuff to give me some warning as I can't just magic up weird and expensive ingredients at a moment's notice. I do have a decent amount of stores even some AF sundried tomatoes and wine vinegar not to mention Maggi flavour enhancer etc.
Slugs or something has nibbled home grown lettuce so trying to grab them first.
Had nice long shower in peace and quiet so getting changed and offering brunch. Wonder if 18 year old dd fancies helping with that.

I had my two cooking with me from the age of two, just playing with pastry at first, then biscuits and cakes. When they were old enough to be trusted with knives under supervision, I allowed them to chop and dice things for me and now they are both competent cooks with plenty of thrifty meals under their belts and I have written their favourite recipes, thrifty and otherwise in a book for them, so that they have a little keepsake that hopefully they will treasure even when I shuffle off.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning all.
Mr Blackbird was singing at 04:00 this morning, and putting his little heart and soul into it!:o It was so beautiful to hear, and went some way towards alleviating my tinnitus, however temporarily.:D
Pink-Winged it's lovely to “see” you, but sorry to hear you've had such a run of bad luck.:( Hope DS is feeling a tad better – sounds most unpleasant! Re the bland blueberries – I think I'd freeze them, and use them to bulk out dishes made with other, tastier summer fruits.;)
Hilstep I love the thought of the beer butt chicken – almost makes me wish I ate meat! I did say almost......:rotfl:
BB I'm with you re the Olympics.... I'm afraid our house will be an Olympic-free zone; neither of us is the least bit interested. Hey, you're not all that far from me, then.
I took Dilly out a little earlier, and she made friends with Pepi (a Yorkie who lives on the estate); it took us 20 mins just to get as far as the poo-bin and back (only a very short way down the road) because she has to check out every leaf and blade of grass along the way!:D She's 13 years old, though, so I don't like to hurry her – and in any case, walkies are for her benefit, and I'm happy for her to use the time as she wishes, within reason.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
