Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning everyone.up with the lark again this morning. We had a great time at mersea island the kids loved 'crabbing' of the pontoon there and Mikey and I looked around the RNLI lifeboat station and the chap there was so interesting and took his time explaining to my eight year old grandson what everything did on the boat and told him some tales of the rescues that had been done mersea hasn't changed all that much since I lived there a few more houses I suppose and the harbour has a lot more boats. We saw 'The Dawn' the boat the Griff Rhys Jones went on when he did the trip up to London with a load of hay a few weekago on t.v. on the 'Lost Routes' programme
Also my old cottage that my OH and I lived in behind the Fox pub.Brought back lots of memories .We stopped off before hand to see my friends and had a cuppa as it was truly persisting down for awhile but by mid afternoon it had cleared a bit and the sun ,if a bit watery did come out for long enough for us to have a wander and do some 'crabbing' Huge ones to the boys delight and Jack said it was an 'extreme crabbing spot ':rotfl:
Discovered that even in a tiny place like West mersea tesco's had manange a small supermarket Whe I lived there back in the mid 1960s the nearest supermarket would have been in Cochester 9 miles away.Still we bought an ice cream there and had a nice walk around for a while .DD loved it and said she could understand why her dad liked it so much there as it was very like his beloved isle of Wight where he was born and brought up.( without all the touristy bits though)
Just got home in time to see Andy murray come second ,still he did his best which was good and there's always next year.Well I have a busy morning I have my friend coming down from dartford for the day and we have my knitting club this morning.Luch will be chicken salad (I have already scraped the new potatos and the washing machine is on so I now have to jump in the shower (hobble really:))then do the school run with the boys .Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing Try and stay dry if possible .Dry at the moment here in the Medway but who knows what the day may bring
Cheers chums

Good morning Jackie and to those who cross/follow,
Jackie, it sounds like you had a fab day out and that fun was had by all.
I don't think the weather can make its mind up here. It has been drizzling, now stopped. Then the sun started to poke through and now its cloudy. I won't hang the washing out just incase.
Tea tonight is sausages, egg, beans and mushrooms. I'll do the others chips as well but i'm trying to lose weight.
Off to work in about half an hour or so, so i had better get a wriggle on.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Day off and I'm awake early  typical! I'm off to Cardiff today with a friend to meet our other friend and her little one for lunch. Then the 2 of us will go shopping somewhere. Should be a nice day out regardless of the rain!
OS wise - house is sparkling apart from the bathroom, so will tackle that this morning before I leave, recycling day so need to put the bags out. Depending on what time I'm home I may put up some of my new pictures on the walls.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy and dry here this morning, but rain forecast later! DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Had a reasonably productive weekend and took things leisurely - wasn't going to flog myself to death after DH's crap attitude! He has been rather sheepish since, I think he realises he was out of order. Had a nice time Saturday evening, and we weren't too late home, so got a decent nights sleep and managed not too wake up stupid early, so felt very much better yesterday because of this. We then took DH's grandad out for lunch - it was his birthday in June and it was 2 years ago since nan died, he has everything he wants but would prefer a ride out and the company, so we took him to a lovely restaurant/hotel along the coast - really lovely surroundings and food is good - I had a "3 tier seafood extravaganza" was served on a 3 tier plate server with a selection of seafood, oyster, whole crab, prawns, shrimps, salmon, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, a seafood mousse, salad, HM coleslaw, HM potato salad, and hot new potatoes - was loads did manage to eat it all but then didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day and have just had a small bowl of cereal for brekkie - still feel full now!
Dinner tonight will be pasta with smoked sausage and creme fraiche sauce, am hoping to stop on the way home to buy some strawberries, as we have cream/condensed milk in the fridge to use up. Have managed to write up a menu plan for this week, I have all the ingredients - so shouldn't need to buy anything else except strawberries for tonight. Did some baking Saturday morning, so made 2 doz mince pies and a Victoria sponge, will put the filling in that tonight when I get home from work.
Back to work today, will be a manic Monday as this seems to be the pattern now - at least it makes the day go quicker! Will be putting the programme together for rally in Scotland as it's not so far away now.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Hi everyone,
It's a lovely morning here. The cat woke me up and I enjoyed sitting drinking coffee outside, watching her watching the birds. Every time one got close I distracted her and the bird got away!
We had a rubbish weekend, I had a horrible bug that left me virtually useless on Thursday which was our wedding anniversary so we had to cancel our meal out. Ds had a bad fall and put his teeth right through his lower lip, which meant lots of stitches inside and outside his mouth and a lot of pain for him. Just to add to the fun I knocked a glass of wine over on my laptop and it's dead. I know people say that bad luck comes in three's....hopefully that's our three over for a while.
Today I'm looking forward to coffee with my sister, seeing my nieces and making stuffed pork chops for tea.
Pink
Ps If anyone can help, I bought eight punnets of blueberries yesterday reduced to 20p each. They're bland and tasteless....any ideas what to do with them?0 -

Morning All!
Had a good weekend. Really enjoyed IKEA Friday, can honestly say I've been converted:rotfl: Got a lovely little dining table for OH and myself for the kitchen for £49, which was amazing, and lights for OH's kitchen. He's been after these for months.
DD, DGD and SOL came for lunch,. I did "Beer Butt Chicken" which I saw on Food Network. Basically, you stick the chicken on top of an opened can of lager, so it is standing up, when the lager boils it goes up into the chicken and cooks it! Here's the link to the video:http://www.foodnetwork.co.uk/node/440067
I can say it was lovely!:T
Got a friend coming this afternoon, and must post something to another OS lady.
Trying the slim shakes again from today. I am feeling fat and frumpy, clothes are too tight!
My knees are now a lovely black and blue, and I can't kneel down at the moment. Seeing my Nurse again on Wednesday, hopefully she will have my results and I can find out why the MS is playing up:o
Anyway, hope you all have a good day despite the weather!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
