If your neighbour has otherwise been a good neighbour, maybe the level of noise etc is getting to her as well. To be honest I have a little sympathy for her, if you live in an otherwise quiet neighbourhood then something like this can really wear on you after a while. I know it's not something you can do something about but you are feeling worn down and frazzled by it all and maybe so is she. I'm not saying you don't have a right to feel a bit aggrieved but I'd suggest trying to see her point of view too and just letting her know that you really appreciate that it's difficult for her as well and that you will be finished soon.

Of course if she's always been a pain then just ignore it :)

Try calling round with another plant:
    Rue
causes nasty rash if sap and sunlight combine on skin
    Sansivaria
causes tongue to swell alarmingly if acccidently ingested
    or
    Poison Ivy
    axiomatic

I`m sure other horticultural moneysavers will be along with other suggestions.

Id stop answering the door to unexpected callers - what are you gaining here by listening to her moans?

I used to live above someone and he continually moaned about me and young daughter making noise (and we were just living, no renovations, parties though I felt he was taking advantage of me being a single woman, that he wouldnt have treated a guy the same) I ended up getting so stressed out that I actually contacted the Council myself to ask for help. They told him to stop complaining! ROFL

Thanks everyone. Feeling a lot better after a couple of good nights' sleep. Last of work should be finished by Friday which is going to be a great relief.

Fortunately neighbours out all day working Monday to Friday so any noise (which should be minor) will not disrupt them!

Have decided today to leave the decorator to it and have a bit of retail therapy!!!!!!!!

She had a huge rant about inconsiderate neighbours anyway. She said by the way I heard you sanding down your stairs today etc etc. Yes, well, new carpet tomorrow and I was preparing. I did it this afternoon after lunch, was finished about 3.00pm. I can't win methinks.

You can win. You can do it at 3am. When she complains, say that you thought the complaint about you doing it at 3pm meant she would prefer it at another time, so you decided to start at the polar opposite of 3pm and work backwards from there until she deems it an appropriate time for you to sand your own stairs. Her call...
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I have a feeling if DH was here just now none of this would have happened.

And perhaps you are too nice and polite and therefore the neighbours think they can walk all over you? Sometimes, you have to be a bit firmer to show people that there is a line not to cross.

I too remember your other thread and how your neighbours are not completely quiet (music)

As an aside, it always amazes me how people think the bit of road in front of their house belongs to them. I once found a note on my car, asking me to park elsewhere, when I lived at my previous address. I just scrunched it up and put it in the bin! where it belonged :rotfl:

Yes, well, car parking! A whole other issue which to be honest doesn't bother me. I hardly ever can't get parked at my front door and on the odd occasion I can't I double park, unload the shopping, then park in the 'visitor' parking.
