OP, in case it's useful, I trust this person's reviews: http://www.beautypedia.com/search.aspx?bid=99
Whilst she sells her own range of products, Paula Begoun built her reputation on reviewing skin care products. She used to publish a really good skin care Bible - Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me - but I think she now just does online reviews. You might even want to e-mail her asking for advice, as she often prints useful replies in her e-newsletters.0 -
POS is a nasty condition, I'm not surprised you spent money to try and improve symptoms. I totally sympathise with you OP. I don't have any specific advice, just wanted to say that I hope your skin improves soon0

Was it so I could give you more information which you could then use to pass on some advice which was the reason for posting in the first place. I can happily give you more info, if needed, if it will help you to offer the advice I actually need!
I just inherently distrust anyone who offers health advice only about product they sell - they are NOT experts, they are akin to Snake Oil sellers. Thus I despair when anyone gets taken in by such claims.
Only advice I can offer is to search for your product(s) at the website posted by jumpedtheshark.0 -
Thanks for all the responses. It is horrible having to live with painful acne at nearly 37! The annoying thing is I hardly had any spots as a teenager!!
I know beauty therapists aren't medical experts but I do believe there are products out that are great for people, but that it's all individual. I know of others who have used dermalogica and have lovely skin but maybe they don't have PCOS too! As I said, the reason I went for this is because of the good reviews and this guarantee.
I'm at the salon on fri getting my nails done so I'm going to ask then what the next step would be if my skin doesn't improve and at least I can get an idea of how they are likely to be with me. I will give it another week to see.
I think I really wanted to know how 'enforceable' this guarantee would be if they (the salon) just turn around and said 'tough', or if they got awkward with me because no one had had cause for complaint before and they dont know how to deal with it. Think I might email dermalogica too just as a back up.0 -
I found the dermalogica medibac range worked for me, acne (nearly) under control at the age of 35! What products are you using? I started with just the cleanser/toner/moisturiser and spot treatment and then added other things to over time.
It does draw everything to the surface, so the first few weeks were awful with blackheads coming up on the T-Zone, but after 2-3 weeks it settled down a lot. I'd ask when you have your nails done and see what they say.0 -

Hi,
I'm using dermal clay cleanser, daily microfoliant, toner and active moist...I knew about the medibac products so I suppose the therapist must've thought my skin wasn't bad enough for official acne products. Well it is now!!
I just want nice (or even nice ish)!
Thanks again for replies.0 -
This has made me reflect on the salon I go to, and make me think even better of them.
She suggested that I get the skin kit first they come in a different ranges (one for dry, normal, oily, medibac, etc), and gives you a chance to try the products for £20-25 to see if they suited my skin. Might be worth mentioning this if you make contact with Dermalogica UK, as not sure why your salon didn't do the same.
Types of kit I mean are here:

Thanks for that. I'm a bit peeved that I wasn't given that option so will bring it up. That would've been a much better option for me and even less costly. The girl who did the facial at the time has now left so that might explain something.
I will still email dermalogica and see what they say, if anything.0 -
Hi again,
Sorry to bring this up again. My skin is better than it was but still getting spots and blackheads are no different from when I started using the products. I had my nails done on fri and mentioned it to the girl in the salon and she said to try a different cleanser for a week which she gave me sample of. I'm in the process of using that at the moment.
I also emailed dermalogica and they said to take the products back to the salon, which I thought they might but the girl in the salon didn't seem very 'up' on the guarantee (for want of a better phrase). She suggested I may need to use this other cleanser instead of the one first recommended. Like I'm going to fork out for another one!
Im friendly with the girls in the salon who do my treatments and don't want to cause upset with this guarantee situation but obviously I would like something done. Either a refund on the original product(s) or swapping the useless cleanser for a free new one if the one I'm trialling actually works.
What do you think my next step should be? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again!0 -

If they are saying to use a different cleanser, then the first person who did the skin mapping got it wrong! (I assume they are suggesting the medibac one?) Isn't there something in the guarantee about it having to be 'prescribed' by a skin care profesisonal for the guarantee to be effective. Any other dermalogica salons in the area where you could get a free face mapping from? Might be more ammunition to get a full refund.
After this length of time, I'd go for the full refund (if you like the new cleanser, there are places on-line where you can buy cheaper than in the salons, the one I linked to before in Jersey is essentially VAT free)0
