Sainsbury's Quality

I think the quality has gone downhill. We have used Red Label tea bags for years but recently they are weak and tasteless - apparently they have changed the supplier who developed the tea after 108 years.

The fresh veg is not so good either and in spite of a huge fruit and veg area they are always out of stock of loose Gala apples only have prepacked small ones.

I bought their own finger white rolls, not fresh baked ones, the next day I opened them....blue fur on 3 out of 6 and well within the use by date. I took them back with my receipt and customer services said they were probably stored next to something warm in their store room. I got my money back but will never buy bread from there again. Just seconds ago my son has shown me the ham I bought from Icelands yesterday. The top and bottom few layers perfect lovely looking ham BUT the middle layers looks nasty with a mushed up shredded centre. Whats going on with these shops?????

I usually buy their basics tea as I'm not a great tea drinker and it's fine for when I fancy a cup, but last night I noticed this 'weak and tasteless-ness' with the basics tea too.

Back to the OP - if I have to use a supermarket for meat I will only use Sainsburys as I think they offer the best quality out of the other supermarkets (and I agree with the point made about the lean mince), but if I buy bread from there I will only buy hovis or kingsmill as I don't think Sainsburys have ever made a good loaf of bread - either bakery or prepacked. I do like the bread from Asda though.

I've been using these for years until recently and I 've never been that fussy about teabags, although I can't stand any basics ones. The Sainsburys Red Label are horrible now - I thought it was my tastebuds! I 've now gone on to PG Tips (at least while they are on promotion here and there).

I wouldn't swop Sainsburys oats or raisins though and DS will only eat their ketchup.

I thought it was just me who wasn't a fan of sainsburys bread (brought in and baked), i dont know what it is about the baked bread but its not as nice as from asda, tesco or even morries, brought in bread its either warburtons white or hovis wholemeal as the softness of the JS bread doesn't seem the best.

My mother showed me a white loaf of Sainsbos baked in store that she bought yesterday afternoon and it was like a brick today !

Got a pack of Sainsbury's So Organic chicken thighs and drumsticks for 3.50 last week and had it with a Seeds of Change organic sauce - fantastic chicken ( and sauce, currently on offer Sainsbury's and Waitrose).

I'm not a fan with Sainsbury's instore bakery bread. Though what is annoying for me is when customers go through my till with the loose cheese and onion rolls (39p each or 3 for 2) fresh from the oven and still warm. The smell is divine and makes you
