Hi,

Bit of a wierd one this - when I double click on a Word doc, instead of opening the file, it comes up a save box ....

I can open them from with Word, but is a pain ...

Anyone any ideas how to fix?

Mark

Right click a word file in Windows Explorer. Then go to Open with > Choose default program. Select (or browse for) Microsoft Word (winword.exe). Make sure there is a tick against 'always use the selected program......

winword.exe is the program file you know as Microsoft Word. It should be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE14\

    Windows key + R

If you want Run to show in the start menu, right click the start button, click Properties. Select the Start Menu tab. Click Customise. Scroll down to find Run and click it so a tick appears in the square to the left. Click OK > Apply > OK

Word must be there otherwise you couldn't open it!

If you can't find winword.exe in the Programs Files (x86) folders, then do a full search of the PC.

To prove it just type winword.exe in the run option (windows key + R)
