I don't understand what you mean byI've tried loading the file but I cannot delete the version of winaspi32.dll that I downloaded before.
What burner software are you trying to use. What version is this software.
The file I mentioned before was an aspi layer from Nero.
If you are not using nero then it is best not to use it.
Adaptec also do an aspi layer application. Aspi is their thing . WinME came with a crude aspi layer.
Your problem could be caused by mismatched versions of your aspi files. The Nero application was meant to replace them all with a consistant set of aspi files.
The new disk is a fresh start. It can contain an alternative operating system to the one you already have. Giving you a choice of operating system to boot at each restart of the computer. It can also be just extra storage.

thanks Joe,
when I install my new hard drive this will run under Win98SE. I will purchase a good dvd/cd burning software package. This will then be my main drive and I'll use the original drive as a storage area.
Thanks for all your help on things0
