From what i read wnaspi32.dll never came with windows. It is a file that comes with the Nero CD/DVD burning application as part of its ASPI support layer thingy.
You can try and get a new apsi layer here.
Try to un-install the old one if you ever had one.

If you haven't access to a computer fair, take a look at the Dealtime site. http://www.dealtime.co.uk and search for 'Hard drives'.
You should, if you need, to be able to pick up a 40GB for £30.

    Hi Jazzycat,
I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread, but I also need advice on upgrading to a different version of Windows.
I use Windows 98 which was installed on this (old) computer when purchased, it appears that the minimum requirement for a broadband provider that I am thinking of using is Win 98 SE.
I can lay my hands on a Win 98SE disc but do not have a clue about what is involved in the upgrade process.
Can anyone advise (in an idiot-proof, non technical manner)
  • Peat - no problem.

Thanks for that, seems pretty straightforward!
    Cheers

  • Peat..

That link is for the Windows 98SE upgrade cd

normally if you boot into dos mode and rename win.com to win.bak and then boot up off the CD you can install and keep your hard drive's contents.

    WHOOSH :-[ :-[

Fraid that was the noise made when SG's words of wisdom flew straight over my head!
  • Joe,

I've tried loading the file but I cannot delete the version of winaspi32.dll that I downloaded before. It says its being used?????

If I try and copy to overwrite the old file, once again it won't let me.

As a side note I have just purchased a maxtor 40gb hard drive so as not to lose or need to transfer my files.

If I want to use my dvd burner on this new drive do I need to install it on the new drive along with software or do I need to remove it from the existing drive it is recognised on?

    many thanks :):):)
