you pay a premium for the advantage of getting the product there and then. Plus you don't have to worry about things like being in for the delivery.

    Its not a rip off

But surely if the extra price was to cover the costs asociated with getting your hands on the goods then and there, (shop and staff costs etc) the online outlets of PC world, currys etc should be far cheaper than their high street stores.

Technical help from a PC World or Currys salesman!!!!
I bought a new laptop last month, and whilst deciding which model to buy, I looked at a couple in PC World.
Both were Toshiba, and one had an Intel i5 processor, and the other was an i7.
According to the salesman, the advantages in getting a laptop with an i7 processor are that the processor has more memory and because it is more efficient, the laptop battery will last longer. (both comments are total rubbish and any IT salesman with even a shred of computer knowledge should know this.)

  • Someone bought be an item (wireless headphones -philips shc5100) from Currys as a present, and after finding out their price online and on amazon (£29-34.99) compared to currys (£59.99!) it makes me feel sad that they can get away with ripping the purchaser off in this manner. What a waste of money. I am grateful for the item, dont get me wrong, and shouldnt even be checking out the price, lol-but even the Currys online store has them at near £60. Ouch. I assume its all because Currys is largely a high st store (it used to be here), so it can sell many items at the original rrp and get away with it, and feel that theres no need to compete with the online market or local stores, but.. what a rip off! The store here isnt even in the town centre anymore, but they should realize that they are losing a fair amount of customers that do actually compare prices. I wish that store would just disappear, and fast!

ps the sound quality from the headphones is better than I expected, fm so passes through walls and I can listen to the music upstairs from the pc or stereo.. but not worth £60 :)

hence the phrase,, cutting your own throat , its happening on a huge scale on the high street, quality save is booming -superdrug is not,,matalan and primark are booming-next,dorothy perkins and burtons are not, need i go on ,the pricey shops dont derserve to survive, but only you can make this possible buy not buying from them
persnaly i use the likes of currys just as a showroom , then buy eleswere

I have been told Currys & PC World are, on average, only 5% more expensive than Amazon.

But look at what a rip off they are here...

I have my sources. Whether it's true or not, I'm not sure. But I have noticed the price differential is certainly a lot less than it was on most things.

Though I would say this tends to be on larger goods. For smaller things like headphones and so forth, it's still fairly large.

Well, if it's something that you admit that you are not sure off, is it really a good idea to post it as though it is a confirmed fact?
