You can either take it to a market or carboot who will charge between £10-£20 to do it or you can contact orange to unlock it,but you have a lot of credit on your phone (about £20-£30)

It depends what phone it is mate. If it is a new BB5 phone then your looking at £30

Its a Motorola L6 on an orange 18 month contract. I am only 4 months into the contract though. Any ideas as to how much Orange would charge to unlock it. Thanks.

Orange may also ask you to pay line rental up to the end of the contract.

Is this one of the phones that I've read are a bit delicate to unlock if not done by the network, as a couple of pcb tracks need to be cut, which easily can be bungled and more damage caused?

If so, I think I'd get a cheap other phone, probably a Nokia that can be code-unlocked free, either here in a supermarkket over there

can be unlocked without cutting tracks/testpoints
can also be done remote by imei for £10 if its on the database which is the safest way

i think if it goes wrong, i think it will result in no network signal
