I was looking for a cheap sim deal and someone in the phones board mentioned this deal. I posted the HUKD link because the info is great and lots have been using it.

Not for everyone but might help some.

EDIT: this has been moved from the grabbit board.

How does this work?? Im tech mad (used to be) but cant see how its funded. Is it a case of them knowing you.will use.your minutes n texts mid month and will "have" to top-up? My wife's contract is ending soon so this would be ideal at FREE a month most months!

If you read the first link on HUKD it tells you all you need to know, its funded by adverts on the web usage but people have been saying the adverts are few and far between.

Plus you get £5 credit when you buy. Its a pay as you go sort of concept if you use your allowance up you can top up or wait for the next months automatic top up of 500mins calls and text plus 512mb.

I wouldn't actually use the allowance as i'm a very light user so i'm going to give it a go.

Mmm I really fancy trying this, but am worried in case they are just harvesting credit/debit cards for a future big bang and gone. (I have been caught before both with credit & debit cards) Does anyone know anything about the guys behind this please.

Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered one. I used a prepaid mc card I had left over from a holiday. So I know I'm safe.:T

It's a good deal for a fiver, however I've been around long enough to see lots of these free (or virtually free) services come and go.

Early adopters may get three months or so out of it.

It would have helped if before moving it you checked to see if there was a helpful existing thread on the subject before starting another one.;)

I didn't move it and didn't want it over here as no-one see's it, you will have to take it up with the board movers ;) It would be better on the Low spend board.

I did a search for ovivo and nothing specific came up. Cheers.

Might also have helped if you had seen that the first post was originally posted on another board for a different audience. ;););););)

However, I missed the one you referred to and this post will be ideal for one of my ancient friends and I will alert them.

I have joined Ovivo and for the last few weeks everything has been fine. I think the business model assumes that many users will use over their free entitlement and so generate income that way. Their chargeable rates are still very cheap. Lots of doubters have been suggesting they may go under, but this can happen to any company, and there are currently rumours about the massively larger 3. Some people are worried this may be a credit card fishing exercise but there is nothing to suggest this, after all Ovivo has been licenced by the UK telecoms authorities. Anyway if you are with the big companies you are entrusting your credit cards to third world call centre operators
