My natwest balance is DR - how is this possible!?

I went to the bank last week and withdrew from the counter 3000pounds. Before withdrawing i had a balance of around 3250pounds so i should be in credit of 250pounds. A few days later, i print a mini statement out at tescos atm and it is stating my balance is 2719.70DR, available balance NIL, so i'm wondering what's going on!? I have tried phoning them but it takes ages to get any answer.

Has this happened to anybody before? I'll have to pop over on monday now into the branch to see what's going on.

Or perhaps amount credited twice in error, then corrected.
Don't forget NatWest have been having glitch-related problems which may not yet be fully sorted out.

The computer problems at Natwest are still ongoing ... it will be as a result of that, and should correct itself automatically in time.

A phone call or branch visit may or may not help to speed this process up - they have been saying to a lot of people that they just have to wait it out.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It never ceases to amaze me how many Internet users don't have online banking.

A mini statement (unlike just the balance) will list the last six or so transactions.
You should be able to work out what was booked and in which order.
  • Thanks for the replies.

Well, i withdrew 3000 from the branch on 27th June but on this mini statement it is showing that 3000 was taken out on 3rd July...so it seems it has been debited twice, can this really be something to do with the natwest glitch? Why would it be debited a few days later rather than the same day?

Some if us reluctantly have internet banking. Quite a lot of us dont trust online banking, the idea of having moneys taken from their accounts by someone without a face can be enough to put a lot of people off online banking.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many people think its the safest method of banking there is.

Let's just say I worry more about an attendant in a petrol station removing my debit card from sight for a few seconds than I do about my online accounts being hacked.

That's not to say there isn't a risk of fraud. And it's a nuisance if you're on the wrong end of it. But your fears are disproportionate to the risk.
