Can anyone recommend a good combination microwave

Hello

We need a new microwave urgently. Can anyone suggest a good one at a reasonable price. Our present one Sharp has lasted over 10 years!

Many thanks

    PANASONIC NNA514A Combination Microwave

Our microwave blew up over Christmas and we bought this model from Currys (though it was £30 cheaper than now and we used Quidco/vouchers/cashback credit card to make it even cheaper)

Panasonic appear to do it in several versions - this is the aluminium version but there are plastic versions available too. Check out Panasonic's web site for more details as the link above relates to a "Currys exclusive model"

  • Which? (Consumers Association) magazine did a microwave test last month and the best combi microwave was this one:

Zanussi ZMC30STQX - it costs around £400 though!!

Next best at less than half the price was this one [Panasonic NNCT766MBPQ]:

my mum bought this micro for me for xmas and im very dissappointed with it, its not a patch on my 15 year old toshiba combi micro and i use mine all the time as my oven in my big cooker doesnt work so i am reliant on it. the convection oven setting on my panasonic is carp because it is heated by a grill at the top and the heat is blown by the fan around the oven..needless to say any cooking gets cremated on the top and raw at the bottom where the heat doesnt reach and you have to keep turning things over which i can cope with most of the time but yesterday for example i tried to bake a cake and the top of the mixture was burning and underneath still runny, i had to quickly save it by nuking it on micro for a few mins  also the turntable is very tempremental and only works when it wants to, and the door feels quite cheaply made and would probably break easily if not treated with kid gloves... if i could take it back i would in a shot!
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

  • Hi

I've had 2 panasonic combination ovens (I'm on my second, a slimeline NN-A514A) and I've loved both of them. Think it's one of the best things I've ever bought and it's so great to have a small oven. :money:

I too have a Panasonic and it's great. I notice that it uses the grill to heat up the oven but once it has reached the required temp, then the grill goes off so as long as you let it pre-heat, then you shouldn't have any problems with burnt food.

I have to admit the first one I had, had a dodgy turntable - it was very jerky ad wouldn't turn if the item on it was too heavy, but I got it exchanged and it's fine now. I would definitely recommend one.
  • Hi All,

My microwave is broke, it's time to invest in a new one.

I have seen that from Sunday, Aldi are going to be selling this combination microwave http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2867_4871.htm

I have never used a combi microwave before. Are they any good, do I need one in my life?

    We have a Panasonic combi.

There is a good book that comes with it. Many recipes that we have not got around to trying yet. (It will do proper jacket potatoes in 15 Min's)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • I do have a normal oven. I don't really know if I need one or not as I don't really know what they do?
