There are hundreds of types of cast iron fireplaces out there, a lot of them 1/2 the price you will see than at B&Q.

You won't get anything plastic, you may find some cast effect electric suites which are made from MDF, but if you just want the cast effect without a fire you would be better looking at something like a combination cast fireplace. They are smaller, made all in cast iron, screws against the wall and a simple DIY job to do. Something like this possibly...

You just wont be able to use the cast insert part of it. There are lots of different styles to choose from.

You can put different tiles in to suit your decor.

To The posters who are saying you would set fire to a plastic fireplace, The OP is asking about something decorative only. You can buy plastic bananas but you wouldn't try and eat one !

    No Probs

If you want to get something like that, explain to whoever you are buying from that you want it to fit flush against the wall as a decorative featue only. Some of the combination casts will have some depth to them, so you would have to dig into the wall in order to insatll them, or build a small false chimney breast out of 2x2 and plasterboard.

Any decent retailer will be able to find a cast which will suit you and fit easy.

Why would you have a plastic fire surround? It would melt. Or did you not think about that?

just buy a fire like this, looks real and you just plug it into the socket, heats up the room nicely. I use it in cold evenings just to have the lounge heated.
