Smartphone: Can't set voicemail speed dial (ovivo)

I bought a Huawei Ascend G300 from Vodafone on payg to use on the new Ovivo service that uses Vodafones network

I unlocked the phone anyway but I have a small niggle. My calls divert ok to the Ovivo voicemail service but I cannot change the voicemail speed dial number on the phone (when you hold down number 1)

If i put my old orange 3g sim in the phone I can alter the voicemail number but when I put the ovivo sim in the voicemail is set to 121 (vodafone) and when I attempt to change it it says

Voicemail number change unsuccessful. Please contacgt your operator if this problem persists

Obviously I can still dial 265 for voicemail but I like the press 1 speeddial option

Anyone got any ideas on solving it?

A colleague had similar on his works mobile, try this, with the ovivo sim in goto messages, settings, voicemail settings and change the number there HTH.

There is no option to change voicemail number under my message settings.

You don't say. As I said when I attempt to alter the voicemail number it won't accept another voicemail speeddial number

What if you put in the orange sim, change the VM number to that of the new provider and then re-insert the new provider sim?
I'm not saying it will work, but trying anything is better than nothing, I don't have the same handset as you to confirm if it works or not

Tried that already too with an orange and a tesco sim. No luck

I think it's hardwired into the ovivo sim settings for some reason

Its a Vodfone branded phone running Vodafone's own firmware, they may of taken the option out as you should only ever need to call Vodafones's voicemail service.
