A advisor has just told me that they do this to ensure no complications arise with payment on the due date as a safety measure.
I have taken pictures of my bank statement and evanquis due date info to prove it, but can't work out how to insert them into this post.
I don't doubt you. I meant "nice try" trying to determine when Vanquis will take a DD payment. Your comment just goes to show it's not as easy as others would have us believe.0 -
clearly you got no clue. 1 As you shown us it DOES Show the payment due date.I understand how their system works.
My point is that they don't tell you how much they will take by DD from your bank account or when they will take it.
I also understand that you fail to understand the point I'm making. However, earlier you wrote this, which backs it up:
You settle your Vanquis statement manually because you don't trust them to take payment by DD as requested.
Other companies I pay by DD use phrases such as these on their statements:
"We will collect £34.56 on or around 8/7/12"
and
"Your Direct Debit payment of £145.69 will be taken on or within 3 working days of 18/07/12."
With these other companies it's clear how much will be taken by DD and when. Unlike you, I don't have to faff around making manual payments because I worry they will get it wrong.
If for some reason these payments are not made it's not my fault, unless I have insufficient funds in my bank account to cover them of course.
2 It does tell you the amount. simply look here
Current balance £129.98
CREDIT LIMIT
Credit limit £250.00
so (UK£ 250.00) - (UK£ 129.98) = 120.02 British pounds Owed if i was to pay in full... Not sure why you fail to read the basics...0 -
Unfortunately, loony2012, you don't understand the point I'm making. Never mind.
Yes i do. You are saying all others have amount on but Vanquis want you to manually work it out.
Well guess what. Not everyone is alike so why should your statements be? surely a sum on you calculator on the PC you are using now isn't too much hassle for you?0 -
Hi guys, a vanquis newbie here. Only got my card last week and have used it twice. Once for a deposit on a holiday and the other for some online shopping but that wont come out until tomorrow. My limit is £250 balance is £189. I originally set up minimum payment dd but rang last week to change it to full payment. My statement says minimum payment due 0 next statement due 18th July. Does this mean I wont be charged for what i've used so far until my next statement?0

Vanquis collects payments by Direct Debit and the Direct Debit Guarantee states:If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit (insert your organisation name) will notify you (insert number of) working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.surely a sum on you calculator on the PC you are using now isn't too much hassle for you?
Vanquis doesn't specifically mention (notify) on statements when a DD will be taken or how much it will be for.
I don't think expecting customers to get out a calculator and calendar and work out these details themselves satisfies the terms of the DD Guarantee.
And neither do you. You've already told us:I pay a set amount before due date to cover costs and then that's why it says 0.00 due but it obviously also uses the DD feature on due date.. I have never let it just take the DD incase it's late as i heard a lot about Vanquis having late DD taken and charging for it.
If Vanquis specifically mentioned on statements when a DD would be taken and how much it would be for there would be no need for you to faff around with calculators and calendars and make payments manually because they don't trust Vanquis to get it right.
As you say, "Not everyone is alike."0 -

This highlights the point I'm making. Vanquis doesn't specifically mention on statements when a DD payment will be taken or how much it will be for.
Will they take the minimum payment from your bank account or full amount? If you amend the DD before your statement is produced, as you have, they should take the full payment and you won't pay any interest on what you've spent, but the statement won't indicate this.
loony2012 will be along shortly and help you work it out, so have a calculator and calendar ready.0 -
Well obviously as you know since you are so bright. They need to give you 14days notice for payment amount to be took. This highlights the point I'm making. Vanquis doesn't specifically mention on statements when a DD payment will be taken or how much it will be for.

As for you. Get out your calender. bottom right of screen and windows calculator. Better still they tell you the DD Date. Not my fault you fail to read is it?
So glad i'm not married to you. You would need me to tell you what 10-5 is and what 3 days from today is so you don't need your calender and calculator...0 -

Well you are starting to sound like a married couple.0 -

You obviously haven't read the Direct Debit Guarantee:If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Vanquis Bank Limited will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Vanquis Bank Limited to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
I don't consider having to work these details out myself to be notification.
Vanquis do not give specific notification of changes to the amount or date as set out in the DD agreement.Get out your calender. bottom right of screen and windows calculator. Better still they tell you the DD Date. Not my fault you fail to read is it?
What you refer to as the DD (Direct Debit) date is the Payment due date. They don't have to be the same, as demonstrated by TheGenerus1 who's Vanquis DD disappears from their bank account three days before the Payment due date.
Take my case as another example. This is from my March Vanquis statement:
And this is from my bank statement:
