(((SGD))) my heart goes out to you, depression for me has only ever wanting me to remove myself from life not the children, but that is just luck of the draw......you were so very strong to realise you needed you husband to take your son, that is the sadness of these types of cases either there is no one to take the child till the mother is seeing things clearly again or family just do not accept things are that bad and then after a tragedy they say I just thought she was being melodramtic.

Kidcat is the death the one that involves a bridge - my granddaughter is very upset over that as she met the person involved only a few weeks ago at someone's birthday party. She is sending so many BBMs to friends about the loss and bullying - her way of getting it out of her system and as I am on her BBM list I am getting them. Plus she has been on the phone a few times telling me.

Way back eons of time ago when I was 5 we had a boy run into the wall at one end of infant and girls playground - big massive stone wall that had points sticking out of each block ( like mini pyramids) even though by then school was about 50 years old and so stone had worn a bit he still managed to give himself such a knock he passed out. All that happened was teacher picked him up and took him to staff room and when he came round was sent back to class. The next day he was not at school and we were told he had died during the night in his sleep - no preamble or preparation, just told it straight and teacher answered any questions - of course there were ones like any blood miss, did he scream, bloodthirsty little beggers we were. I remember it all clearly but have to admit I don't think I ever lost a moments sleep over it. It had happened we would not see him again and that was that. I think being so young helped a lot, life had to much in it then so we just didn't have the time to think about him. We chatted among ourselves about him but it was a 7 day wonder if that.......Maybe then death was still not tidied away quite as it is now, people died more in their homes than in hospital and rarely in a nursing home and we would all troupe in to see the body ( well kids got in when they could) so we accepted it more or we were just unusually callous, but I don't think so. This was 1961 - totally another world from now.

There's some honesty and truth on this thread since I've been on

Kidcat, if you can I'd have a break away, I think my last holiday was over 15 years ago. I have had people say I should go and that I can but when you take help from the State, you feel awkward doing so. If you can do so with as few knowing even just a stay at a local seaside or the countryside, it's a change.

    SBG (((hugs)))

i remember having pnd with both of mine. I just couldn't stop crying, luckily my mother was able to help me when i had ds1.With ds2 i had no one, OH was working all the hours so he couldn't help. All i did was cry again and force him to sleep as i couldn't handle anything. When i found out i was pregnant with ds2 i was petrified, as my mother was dying of cancer and i knew she wasn't going to be there for me. This probably didn't help instead added to the anxiety. I went to my gp, spoke to health visitors but all i got was oh just make him to go to sleep, you'll be fine after 40 winks.

Luckily i managed to get through it and both of my boys are happy, healthy children and have a very strong bond with.

Not sure if this any use to you, but i found a free site called hidden-teesside which basically gives you a list of things like old mines, old war sites, nice walks etc Its a really good site to look at, they might be one like it your area.

What i do is use the site to plot a map and get the boys to look for the old sites. One time i took my children and sisters girls out and did this with them and they loved it.this was last year when they were aged 11, 7, 6 and 3 yrs old. So i'll be doing this again this year.
Last year we found a whole load of old war pillboxes near the chemical works by the RSPB Saltholme which were great. The boys loved clamobouring about inside of them. Daft thing is they was more wildlife near them than at Saltholme :rotfl::rotfl:
Saltholme is just outside of Hartlepool and Seaton Crewe if anyones interested, there is also a small beach there sealsands which is fab, when the tide comes in it creates a little island. Hardly anyone goes there, its quite secluded and is a heat trap. Just a shame its in the middle of an indutrial piece of land, so could be worth visting there if your near Seaton Carew. Think the No1 bus from Hartlepool stops at seal sands, seaton carew and rspb. It also takes you straight to Middlesbrough to.

We also go our local park quite a lot, go for walks along the river and the hills near us. As we work from home they'll also be expected to amuse themselves, so two footballs were bought for this purpose. fingers crossed we'll be lucky to get some seat for a trip to flamingo land with the disabilities team. I sent the £10 deposit on Thursday so hopefully will hear back from them soon.

I'm very lucky as we have direct train service to Newcastle, Saltburn, Hexham and York from Middlesbrough so no doubt will see how much money we have and visit them.

Fuddle have a look in your local library for a book challenge, in boro they do a reading challenge every summer where if you read a certain amount of books you get stickers and a prize.

How simple it all was in my childhood, I keep saying that's not that long ago(It's a lifetime really)but I can remember playing guessing games and writing games for many, many years.

Fuddle you and others are doing fine by your children, good to see some reading, painting and drawing going on too...

Still think it's nicer if parents can and have the time to give to their children...

[QUOTE=kittie;54511089 yes for the first time but so far it is charlotte that I have noticed the white marks on. We have only eaten kestrel twice last week and both baked. Kestrel look fine so far

I am preserving more broad beans later, ie putting them in a bag and into the freezer, I did that and blanched others last year and couldn`t tell the difference[/QUOTE] :DThank you, Kittie. I shall just bag up the next lot as the blanching for 3 mins is a nuisance and if it isn't strictly necessary, it will save time and the gas. I'll bag the next batch with a different colour twisty-tie and see if I notice any difference.

becca - welcome, quick settle in before GQ has you brewing tea for everyone. Although I have leftover cake if anyone fancies some :)
:D:p:D Hello and welcome, becca. It's always great when a lurker comes out to say hi and I shan't be asking you to make the tea as I was out drinking vino and am quite nicely sorted, thank you.;)

Rosanna79, I have done some Alexander Technique myself, fisrtly a 6 week taster course with a small group via Adult Ed, then some private lessons with the same teacher. I cannot praise it highly enough. I spent most of my life being a martyr to constant headaches (one particular horror lasted 8 days :() and after learning the Technique, I realised that I was holding tension in my facial muscles and neck muscles and this was why I had headaches.

Since then, I can feel myself start to tense up, and drop the tension out and "think wide" and the only times I get headaches now, they are easily-attributed to either dehydration or overtiredness.

Fuddle, I used to lodge with a lady who was bringing up her 3 young girls on a very low income on her own. She used to get the free newspaper and scour through it for free things to take the children to, plus they did Woodcraft Folk. It was sort of a genteel poverty as she'd fallen on hard times after the breakdown of her marriage but she was very intelligent, able and a loving and caring Mum. They did lots of walks and other outdoorsy stuff, as well as craft and spending family time.

Oh no DS8 watched MUlan tonight, I just caught him fighting a bear with the towel rail (which was still attached to the wall a few hours ago)!!! He has also told DD17 that she should bring honour to our family and offered her his "sword" - a.k.a the inner tube from the brand new roll of wrapping paper that he has unravelled and used to "wrap" his toys up for safe keeping from the invaders!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Thankfully I can see the funny side, not sure my dad will when he sees how much wall needs replastering in the bathroom though:D

Days out - if you contact your local park rangers they often have a variety of free days organised over summer that can be really good. A friend of mine works for rangers in a nearby town and I have worked with him putting some activities together a few years ago which he says he still uses. :)

Also well worth looking into whether your council offers a discount card for people on low incomes, I get a freebie as a carer which reduces leisure centre charges and some local business also offer savings for the card too.

One of the local radio stations also offers a cheap ticket scheme too, in that they have so many tickets on offer for well less than half price for local attractions, so again worth looking at web pages.

When I worked with churches many of them also put on summer activities too, although funding has been cut and many struggle there are some that still do and these are usually free.

Also worth reminding that if anyone is disabled they can apply for the cinema card that allows a carer to go free.

    Morning everyone.

I am going to try and do as I said many, many posts earlier and put my long ramblings on my diary as most of it is not really relevant here and the moderators have been really good about it, but must try not to take advantage - so if anyone wants to read what I have got up to so far today the link to days page of dairy is in my profile - will try and remember to change the link daily to go to that days page........
