Welcome to the newcomers, great to have so many joining us ..and hugs to anyone who needs a hug, including our four legged friends.
Helped out at the gym this morning and we were busy despite having no electricity supply...wonder if its the first of the rolling cuts? But its amazing how hard people can work in a gym when there is no treadmill available lol
Took a prawn salad with me to eat for my lunch, and tbags to make a nice cuppa, which I couldn't have because of the power cut. So drank the milk instead that I had taken with me. I take my own as they drink evaporated milk and I can't ,as its got gluten in it to make it thicker.
Found everyone much chattier because it was quiet with no music on to 'inspire' them. The weather is beautiful and it is 28 in the shade. A few faltered when I suggested having a run around the marina instead of the treadmill....that will be a no then eh? I can't believe people drive to the gym to just go on a treadmill when they could be out running or walking in the fresh air and sunshine.
Having a sit down and a cuppa as we are going out tonight to a closing night at a hotel. There will be a buffet (10 euros a head) and wine but I don't know if there will be much choice of what I can eat...so had some of my gluten free HM bread with cheese and beetroot on it to put me on for a while ...delicious! The party will be outside by the swimming pool so I plan on wearing a jacket tonight, it got quite chilly out there watching Elvis perform last week (the Albanian version, not the real one ).
I have been reading the comments about tv programmes and films on the internet.....we watch Veetle.com......loads of good movies on there both new and old, many tv series from the past and its all FREE. There are lots of channels to choose from like comedy, 1980's , Sci Fi etc. Sometimes the programmes aren't listed but I just pick a channel I like and see what is on. Most are on a loop so if you miss the beginning you can catch them earlier the next day.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Ginny - I find my sciatica eases with some gentle stretching (although one time it was so bad I couldn't sit down, lie down or stand up without pain so I decided to clean the pond out. I was crying with pain but so determined it wasn't going to get the better of me, I bent down there was a sudden rush of warmth and all the pain washed away.) from then on, when ever I get a bout of it I clean, I stretch, I get on my hands and knees and scrub...anything to stretch it out and ease it. (but I do take the nice strong pills the Dr gave me too)
Just had to put more bait down in the loft as I went to get a rug out of storage (all wrapped up in thick polythene) and the b*ggering little mices have chewed through it! It's a lovely thick fluffy rug for my bedroom so I've given it a good bash on the line, hoovered it off, sprayed with antibac and have darned the hole as best I can.....have put a tower of wicker picnic baskets over the edge with the hole so you can't see it. So angry, why didn't they chew through the sacks of cuddly toys that the girls insist they can't part with?????"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Thats exactly what I have been doing Pooky, Im glad I got it right, thank you. Have been stretching and bending in an attempt to release whatevers stuck cos that feels as if its what I need. Lots of rub in gel and rest/work, hot water bottle and showers. Its just like really bad toothache in my bum and thigh. Anyway feeling soothed at the mo so cross your fingers.
2tonsils I could never understand why people run on a treadmill when they have somewhere lovely to run. 5 years ago I used to run 4 miles a day after work, god knows how I did itBut I used to run in all weathers but my running partner a big tattooed long haired rocker wouldnt run in the rain??? After all I used to jump in the shower when I got home and it never did me any harm. Wish I could still run now as it made me so healthy , never had a headache or a twinge of pain.

Ginny hope you feel better soon - i'm pushing myself to move about today too.
Went to my local greengrocer and was chatting about veg, and he said the wholesaler had wanted £25 for a sack of golden wonder! he said he didn't buy them as they were tiny - told the wholesaler his buyers wouldn't pay that for tiny tatties- makes you wonder though.
Fuddle I agree, see what happens next term. You may not be the only person in school whose noticed this, and it can only be to your credit. Chin up!!! Have a lovely evening out

The farmshop here wanted £9 for a 25kg sack of maris Piper last week, thought that was bad enough. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
Just had a phone call - should have run upstairs and got under the covers - they are coming to insulate the loft in a month - I got a months grace as I now have to empty the loft of all the wonders that have accumulated there in 30 years. Wish me luck guys, really didnt need this
That may be better than what I'm trying to do which is a little at a time, haven't even reached the 16 unopened boxes that we moved here with yet. 20 years of kids drawings etc and my/hubbys etc [STRIKE]junk [/STRIKE]really useful stuff.
We have 1/3 insulated with 2 to 3" but thats it and the reason I started clearing out is to get the loft insulated, but dragging it out isn't good I've decided. I'm going to suggest to hubby we call british gas and them to look at it, then a date after. I work well to deadlines and think I need one for this.
Ginny, could you ask them to move it back a few weeks? although that would be closer to xmas or maybe January.
Note to self *stop putting things off*

Fuddle I would definitely wait and see which way the land lies in other ways.
Good day for DS at school today, the teacher must have said something to the boy as he came to apologise and said it had been 'just a joke'. Another mum had asked her son though and he had told her that the boy hit DS often and frequently had him round the neck pushed up against a wall. Good joke eh? Why none of them, including DS, didn't think they should mention it to an adult is a mystery. In ironic timing the parental questionnaire has come home today and I shall be answering it quite differently to previous years.
Christmas cakes all wrapped up, cherry cakes all cut into slices and frozen, marmalade all labelled and prettified for hampers. The next week shall be spent cleaning and tidying the house as my parents are coming to stay next week and I have stupidly agreed to have a halloween party for 10 children.0 -
