MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »Glad the cookies were nice, despite smelling unfamiliar, most things from that book taste super. Try the Rhubarb Crumble recipe (it works with any fruit not just rhubarb) it uses golden syrup on the fruit not sugar and the crumble topping works a treat, it has become the only crumble recipe I use now. Very OS too, very economical!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
Please can we have the recipe for the fruit crumble? xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Been away for a week on holiday and now have 32 pages to catch up on
You should have taken us all with you then:rotfl::rotfl:
Hope you had a lovely time
We have had a very MSE dinner, party leftovers (there was so much food left over and we couldnt bring anywhere near all of it so when my dad was packing stuff I instructed him to stick with the fresh salmon and the turkey crown) with salad and tinned potatoes.
We had very strange weather today, this morning was bright and beautiful, this afternoon the sky went black and within minutes teh heavens opened to an extraordinary hail storm. Went on for ages, then just stopped and went back to bright again. Rain came back on and off as well.
DD is busy trying to put away all her lovely gifts, she got so many gorgeous things including a necklace that is perfect, just her. Ironically it was a gift from a boy she is friends with that she is convinced is autistic (having met him and heard the tales the group tell I believe she is right) she tries to look after him and often has to try to explain to the group that he is not deliberately winding them all up, then she has to try to explain to him that the others are not being mean!!
ETA - DD had a message today from a girl who attended last night (DD has been trying to explain autism to her for ages to help out the boy in the group and she couldnt get it) and she said she understood it so much more now having met DS8 and seeing how I was with him and how I treated him. She was also lovely as she said she thought I was wonderful with him (which brought tears to my eyes)
Most talked about moment from last night (on Facebook anyway) was not the two girls who finally settled a ten year argument, nor the pole dancing, not even that DD6 can out macarena any of the teens it was when DS8 got up on microphone and sang Happy birthday to DD and then made a little speech on how much he loved her. Brought yet another tear to my eye. Which was obviously allergies as I do not cry ever!!!!
PAH - where are you? am on my phone so cannot message, but just give us all a little wave if you are reading so we know not to send the hounds after you :rotfl:0 -
Yes, I was wondering about PAH too. Was she away this weekend?0

I was thinking about PAH too, I hope that she is well...and it is just computer problems, that's bad enough..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hope you had a good holiday.
We're in Scarborough next weekend for a meet up with some other families whose children have the same genetic disorder as ours - really looking forward to it, but I just know I'm going to spend all Sunday evening glued to the lappy catching up!
Been to DD's favourite farm park today (yes again!!!) we're beginning to know them so well I think we ought to invite them to the wedding.:D Went on the tractor ride today as it was lovely weather, DD loved it, DS managed to go to sleep - lulled by the bumpy ride. Not looking forward to them being closed for the winter - DD is going to be distraught not to be able to go and visit her donkdees, gingerpee and the cow cows. (donkeys, guinea pigs and calves) - the weekends might well be a write off until the February half term!
Having a panic now - it's less than 3 weeks til our wedding - my dress isn't finished (nearly there though) and DD's are cut out but I've not even got the fabric to start them! My mum was going to make them but she had a fall and broke her humerus and I could do with at least half a dozen more bags for my craft fair stall in a fortnight - think I may be burning the midnight oil over the old sewing machine somewhat! At least my exam will be out of the way by Monday afternoon.
Another one here who reuses tins to store baked goodies - I also have quite a lot of Ikea plastic boxes - you know the sets that go from really diddy up to lunch box size as they are cheap and I use the little ones for all the little picky bits of leftover in the fridge and things like cucumber and pepper strips when we have picnics.
I've really noticed the increase in cheese prices - we used to keep a selection in the fridge for suppers but I've ended up buying more and more cheap ones and less 'real' cheese. At least with Christmas on the way hopefully Mr T should at least start having some offers on - they usually do 3 for 2 and their selection pack for half price. I get their value grated cheddar for cooking and when I did the online shop earlier it had gone up to £2.57  it was £2.13 the other week!
Take care all. X0 -
I purchased earlier today value bread and bread buns, cheese and bananas, almost £5 gone...good job these kind of items last a few days. But it still doesn't look like much."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »My slowcooker is a really ancient TOWER one and the ceramic pot does go in the oven, I've still got the instruction book which says it is OK. I don't really know about modern ones so the more up to date advice is probably right. Good point in that you might not be able to replace the crockpot. Safety and sense to put it in a conventional casserole dish and avoid loosing the slow cooker for good, even if it does mean extra washing up!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
