Morning All
We did our last service until half term in late October last night, so in end-of-term mode! Going to do nothing today apart from cooking dinner and maybe a bit of light knitting.
All the LC talk is putting me in mind to try again. Not just yet though as we are off to Cornwall for a week next Saturday and cannot miss the pasties! I think we will be giving fish and chips a miss this time though.
Your portable foods sounds much like mine were 2tonsils, and yes you do have to get used to funny looks! I used to tuck into a pot of egg mayo for brekkie at work, that got a few odd glances . It must be so much harder when you have to avoid gluten, but you could eat our chips!
Smiley, what a brainwave! You could make some long open ended gauntlets to wear on you arms when you are cycling, so that your hands are free. I can see the pattern in my head, but not sure how to describe them!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Is this glove pattern here, and the subsequent discussion, any use as a starting point?

The original pattern creates these beauties:

Morning all
Been reading but not posting on most threads this week or two, just so busy at work, too tired to concentrate enough to write!
Re health visitors - we have 3 adult children and 2 very young, so can contrast the difference in 2 generations, and it's dreadful! First time round, HV had so much time and proper experience, including having their own kids, assessments on your child took as long as needed, they listened to your ideas/concerns etc, were genuinely interested in your worries, even if you thought it was silly. Now, even if the HV is as able, the system is geared towards "vulnerable" families, if you're seen to be coping, or it's your 2nd or more child, then you're left to your own devices. They're there if you need them, not on your back, but I liked the previous system; maybe I was also lucky as the HV I had were fantastic women. When my youngest was born, HV was supposed to do a proper PND check (big thing now), but she just came in the house, and as I wasn't crying or stressed, said "Oh you look like you've not got PND, that's lovely" and moved onto the next thing on her list! Actually, I think I probably did, with hindsight, but was just floored by her attitude.
Our £ shops have all got Hallowe'en and Christmas things in, SM have all got mint spies (as DD20 used to call them!), boxes of choc, Christmas cards - plenty to go at if you're in the mood.

I had PND but falsified my answers on the questionairre to make me look like I didn't need help. Stupid eh? Those questionairres should never be relied upon.

Ha ha...health visitors.....when my son was born he was huge and even though I breast fed him he was ready to go on solids pretty early. One day when he was about four months old the hv ''caught'' me giving him Greek yogurt for breakfast. She told me off for putting him on ''solids'' too early so I asked for her phone number......
she gave it me and then asked why. So I told her I would stop giving him the yogurt and pureed fruit if she agreed that I could ring her a 1am when he woke up screaming and starving.
I never heard another peep out of her after that....“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

Fuddle - have finally booked into t'doctors, not for a couple of weeks cos they're uber busy, but better than nothing. Sis has been on antid's for a while, says she's still taking and wishes she'd done it sooner. Thanks for caring, hun!
Still feel bad, even DH thinks I look ready to cry all the time (which I do), but glad I've got appt, that part of me is relieved now.
Hope PAH is ok, too, anyone heard from her?

Just yesterday cheaps, she sounded out of spirits and very down. She said she was reading but didn't want to bore us with her problems.
So pleased you have an appointment. I echo exactly what your sister said, that's how I feel. Get these few weeks out of the way, another few to get the tablets helping your brain connect the signals and you'll be chipper in no timeHang in there x
