Fuddle, you are amazing - can I borrow you.
Just think about storage. Dual purpose things like a coffee table chest to put bedding in and somewhere to store your clothes.
Ginny, Mum used to get collected by ambulance car for her appointments and my Aunt could go with her. Lots of waiting around but no parking worries. Does your hospital do similar?C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -

It looks from that final total that we could be entitled to a small amount of housing help of some sort. Not sure what that is since we have a mortgage and we do not claim council tax. We have not even tried because of the mess they have made in the past. Also there looks to be other help which will probably be the replacement for child tax credit?
As dh will be 62 in 2014 he would be eligible for pension credits but I don't know if they are changing that too.
Everything is up in the air no wonder we're worried...we fear the future and life can change in seconds, it does and has as proven today on here but I keep hoping our fears are unfounded and it will work out but when you struggle to basic bills like food, gas, electric, rent etc...it's already failing.
And threads like ours show that most are not like the people the media finds or politicians talk about and cause ill feeling as people think anyone on benefit is raking it in or are scroungers.
The low paid are struggling and then we have those who just have enough to disqualify them from help. Not sure what's happenong about pension credits but I'm 5 years away from that possibility. As they now say you retire at 67 they'll certainly push any help given further back at some point if they don't scrap it altogether."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Sorry about the carry on at the hospital Ginny and Shergar something similar happened to Mum 4 weeks before I lost her. The care was not good in my opinion I was better with her and wish I had insisted she was at home but can't change things."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. We have already discovered they have pushed back the fuel allowance by 2 years as he should have got it this year under the old rules. I think it will be gone before he get to that point.0 -

Fuddle - I know people who have managed what you are considering, but they were mostly both out all day and kids were much younger and not at school. They had parents who had larger houses and spent alot of time there with the kids.
With kids the amount of "stuff" you have is amazing, added to the difficulties when kids bring friends home. You also come across as very house proud and it may well be that living that way would seriously depress you.
I think there is a difference when there is a guaranteed deadline.
When we moved to the last house, it was miles away from where we needed to be, the commute to school was a nightmare and the kids were nowhere near their friends. I found it really hard and it got me down, however there was an end in sight and knowing that made it possible to carry on.
That being said if you can manage it, hats off to you it could easily speed up your savings.
Mardatha - I thought you had managed to put RV up too0
