Sorry, I'm still a bit up in the clouds and baby-obsessed but I promise that after today Mia will be a closed subject.
Mcculloch: You are right, there is not enough joy in the world. Anyone called Joy bears an awesome responsibility for living up to their name. I should know!

monnagran My name is Joy too! I normally use the name Betonyjoy on forums and Twitter, rather than Betony. I often think it's rather ironic that I've had depression for most of my life though...:p

Oh, and congratulations on your new granddaughter. I'm sure she will bring you lots of joy too.

Thank you so much. I love the beginner pack :) DH is going to get me it for my Christmas present :j I searched ebay for sheep's fleece. I need to learn about amounts and value for money but this is something that come the new year I want to get to grips with. I'm passionate about knitting (although still very much carp) and love the idea of from sheep to jumper.

Valk don't be going anywhere! I'm going to need your help! ;):)

Are you on Ravelry? There's a UKSpinners forum there which is a terrific source of advice and help. Also the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers has a lot of branches around the country, it's cheap to join (usually about £3 for a day) and they welcome new folk. You don't need to know how to spin to join, they'll teach you fast enough! And there's no better way to learn than face to face.
    Val.

I'm another one who's been 'dying' this week :D The wash and dye Dylon is only £4.47 or so in Wilkinson's, though this is available in limited colours. I used the deep chocolate brown on some old, grotty white shirts and they're now good as new. I use the wash and dye to revive black clothes too, and the time before used the jeans blue one to bring three pairs back to life. They are brilliant, I'm a huge fan.

I am a member of Ravelry, off I go. It would be great to start up a toughie Ravelry group so we could see and share all our yarn related workings. What do you think? I don't know how to do it but I'd work it out if we wanted too?

I'll look up the guild, Ta :) Edit: There's one in my home town :D

What is the colour fastness of the Dylon dyes. Does the colour stay a decent amount of time aftr washing?

Fuddle It does seem really good, after you've done your wash and dye, you need to put your items on a normal wash cycle with washing powder/liquid and I usually put in other dark stuff with it; none of the dye transfers in this wash. The black tops I did ages ago are still black too.

I met Val at a spinners guild meetup, and although I don't spin, I found it very old style and calm, a big circle of us with some using their spinning wheels and some knitting. Is the kind of thing you could do all day, just sit and watch them spinning.
  • I wonder if the dye works over items that have bleach marks on? I have a couple of otherwise decent black t shirts ruined by hair dye.

Have pulled out all my children's Disney DVDs to sell on ebay. Don't think I'm a mean mother as they never watch them but am having slight second thoughts!

I know how you feel. One day they might want them for their little ones for posterity but... there might not be a CD player in the future. Tough one P
  • Yes no point in keeping for that I don't think, DVD is a dying format already, but DD is only 7 it seems wrong for them to go. On the other hand I could really do with the money now. A few of them I'll pass on to my nephews.

Hmm the Disney thing is a tough one.

WE have a whole basket of Disney VHS videos. At the moment DD does have a working video but once that goes we will have nothing to play them on. Hopefully it will struggle on for 2 years till she leaves home and we can rightfully get rid. I do think about the amount of money that went into them, but you can't even give away videos these days.

My weekend task is to clean the house and tidy it. I am ashamed of it - it is often a bit messy but is currently eye-poppingly shocking. I don't even know where to start really but as OH cleaned the loos while I was away I thought i'd begin in the kitchen as people see that. My DS 13 year old friend came in to call for him yesterday and I found myself apologising for the state of it! :o

I have taken some chicken out of the freezer to marinade for a BBQ tonight - it has slight freezer burn. Is it still ok to use? I will cut the dry bits off.

This won't get it done will it......

I wanna be in the room where it happens
