Worry not. I've sussed it :)

I've 21 meals left in the month so 7 lots of meals rotated 3 times:

    cheesy broccoli pasta bake
    bean enchilades
    veggie korma
    pizza, garlic bread & coleslaw
    jacket potato, beans and cheese
    lentil ragu
    courgette lasagne.

I've thrown the lot. Much didn't smell but didn't at all feel cool to the touch so I just don't dare risk it.

The annoying thing is that without that freezer I can't shop for the month. I will have to buy my meat as and when I need it at the coop. I can't do the 6 miler to the butchers when I start work as it's right in the middle of the day and won't have time to get there or back, morning or afternoon, in time for schools.

I feel a bit 'harumph'. I had it all sussed too. That's what happens when you get cocky eh?

Life gets in the way of plans...:(In my time I have had to throw out the contents of fridge/freezers so I know how it messes things up on many levels.

It never happens if your freezer has been cleared or hasn't much in it.

The problem with sewing when you're stressed (or it could just be me) is that I'm a tad more aggressive with e sewing machine. Mine now sounds like its got a death rattle and the bulb is blinking....I shall get a screwdriver to it tomorrow and give it a bit of a talking to.

Sunshine - glad you like the lap quilts, they're so lovely and snuggly and just long enough to tuck under your feet.

Went to move some wood that I'd lazily stacked at the side of the house (old fence panels and posts from earlier in the summer when I replaced them) and realised it was covered in beetles, turns out its woodworm beetles so I can't risk putting it in my wood pile in the garage and I don't want it in the house so I've chopped it down and had a session with the chiminea in the garden. There's lots more to burn but I shall pop it into lidded bins and it will be exclusively chiminea fodder. Blugh, I hate buggly things but I really hate them in my precious winter heating materials!!

My sons ( year6 ) is going to Whitby for 2 nights £120. It's not just the cost of the trip it's the cost of the kit. No jeans at least 2 pairs of trousers, waterproof trousers etc. It's stuff he will not use again.

Primark are good for thick jogging bottoms. For waterproof trousers try Decathlon, they have a good range of kids hiking gear. For boots and stout trail shoes head for Sports Direct, they have proper Karrimor walking shoes and boots for ~£14-£16 in kids sizes and they're very sturdy. And all of it will be useful for the winter months , surely?

Saw a hedgehog pottering round the garden this afternoon so the children have been trying to find it all evening but Mr Hog has disappeared.
Feeling quite OS today as both lunch and dinner were leftovers.

You might just want to check that zooming along at speed hasn't simply loosened the bulb. The vibrations might have done it, especially if it a screw in bulb.

Aw we had a visiting hedgehog at our old house. Lovely little things. I bet you have a saucer of milk out ;)

I am feeling so down tonight. I cannot tell you how it effects you having to throw all that meat away. The waste of money, the waste of an animals life, the smelly waste in landfill, the waste of nutrients for my kids. It's all swishing around up in there. Hopefully I'll shift the guilt? tomorrow. Looking forward to wartime farm anyway. :)
