(((hugs))) SDG.
For the growers amongst us, cheap seeds are on the Grabbit board (credit to sharalee99):

If you scroll along there are lots and lots at 50p and postage is free if you spend £5 plus you seem to get an extra pack of seeds too.0 -
SDG - lots of hugs for you, it's dreadful waiting for the inevitable like this, we've done it a couple of times so my heart goes out to you, and hope all get through it. Sounds like you're all supporting each other.
smileyt - hope you're back amongst us soon, look after yourself.
fuddle - don't think Christmas lights cost much to run, enjoy 'em!Sometimes little pleasures are what keeps me upright and breathing some days! (I'm speaking primarily of good chocolate, magazines and/or wine!) :rotfl:
Sounds like quite a few of us, or families, are having more of a rough time than usual, even for toughies. Wish I knew some of you in RL, so we could share real tea and biccies - had kind words from more than a few when I've had a moan! Think you're more supportive than most of my RL friends and family, thanks so much! I'm rubbish at lots of stuff, but hope I can make others feel better in return, at least occasionally!
ETA - thanks for the seed link, Possession, will go have a gander!

Fuddle - I work on the principal that if it makes you happy to have a set of fairy lights switched on then s0d the cost. It's not as if you're drinking champers out of a designer shoe whilst looking at your fairy lights.
As I said, contentment comes cheap here. Well it did, DD2 is now sulking as DD1 looked at her wrongly and has stormed upstairs with music blaring. Teenage hormones are hard work."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
DH has just called me from work. The merger that is going through means that one of the 3 units that are merging has to close in November...yep, it's his
The worst thing is, they've been told this much and no more. They've been given no idea of how many staff will be lost, if they'll need to reapply for their jobs, timescales or anything.
oh joy of joys;)
I knew today was going to be a cruddy one. first my new childminding client rearranged, second the lady i clean for wasn't home (and after a mad panic trying to find out whether she was in but unable to answer )turns out she's on holiday (so that leaves me a tenner short that i was expecting).
Then the lady that started work with us just yesterday broke down in tears because she's struggling with both the workload and the attitude of the bosses. don't blame her, i've been there 5 yrs and i find it hard. i've learnt to just nod and smile now, makes me look a bit dim sometimes but they tend to not nag so much;)
and now this. I just hate having to wait for other people to make decisions, or only making a part of a decision and making you wait for the rest.
humph. think i'll go to bed.
hope you beautiful people are less peed off than me tonight;)

((((Hugs to all who need them)))) tonight to many to name.
Possession thanks for the link, I had exactly£3.25 left on my cc - we only use a prepay one so have managed to order 4 packs + will get one free so even thought I have had to pay £1pp I still think I got a good deal.
Went to WI tonight, how do you guys make friends, its not that anyone is rude or means to ignore me, but at the table I am at they have been sitting together 10 years, two my age and two in their 90s so they chat to the person their age and when they notice me they speak, but I feel like a third person on a date most of the time. No chance to talk to others as everyone stays at their table the whole time, no mingling. I don't like to say anything but being the first new member in 6 years its hard as everyone knows everyone else so well.
Hubby said I should stop going if its making me feel bad, but I enjoy the meetings, the talks that are given.
I heard tonight there is a new branch open in opposite direction to this one but about as far so going to find out about it, will phone head office tomorrow as didn't like to ask for details but did overhear someone saying what the other WI they attend did last week so I it seems you can go to more than one.
Hugs and Love to allxxxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I'm here! :j
And a little teary that some of you missed me
I've been up and down healthwise, just trying to sort out meds and such. Was quite a funny few months, in order to diagnose me fully on a bit of what's up we had to stop treating it, wait a few months until I got rougher, blood test again to gauge the decline and start regular treatment. A month ago treatment resumed, yesterday I took control of it myself and have now been taught to inject intramuscularly on my own (doc suggested hubby try it, he turned vomit green so I demonstrated to doc I could reach to do it myself!). So providing nothing slides further downhill, I should be just dandy from now on. And I shouldn't be earning as many frequent flyer miles from the doctors surgery (you know it's bad when you can phone any one of 5 receptionists and they know who you are just by your voice).
I'm thinner, but seem to have stopped losing weight, which is a relief. And a sentence I never thought I'd have to say.
I have been reading the thread (I miss you guys too), but I've just been too darned self absorbed to offer anything to anyone else. Sorry.
We've also purchased a new mattress. It's not a joke when I say it's because of my weight loss - the springs in the old one were really digging into my bones! But I still can't store much under the bed, so feel like a poor cousin to GQ (especially now I have NO tins of tomatoes in the house ).
I can't promise to post much for a while (I do intend to get back to blogging at some point soon too), but am sending all my love to you guys in the meantime.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Ohhh... I have fairy lights around my house and when I put them on I feel MUCH better. I put them all up after the bad winter of 2010 when we were snowed in for a looooooooooong time in our wee village with no shop and I got a bit down to say the least.
Softstuff, glad you are okay. I am a serial lurker but do read every day. I just don't do anything exciting to tell you all about. It's mainly school runs and making dinner. I hope the injections work.
I have been wondering of a way to raise our bed but except for putting the legs on blocks can't think of anything else. Anyone got ideas? Would we maybe fall off the blocks and get a fright in the middle of the night?
Today I was asked to visit a local foodbank with the intention of setting one up in our next town. It's not until the middle of October but I'll be interested to see what it's like and meet people actually running one now. I already help at a charity shop and we hear some sad things there. The manager kindly delivered some furniture to a young mums house and they didn't have ANY furniture except a bed. We've been keeping an eye out for stuff for her.
There's a lovely old couple who come in and buy furniture then give it away to people they know don't have any/much. They get those items pretty cheap from us. We're not there to make a profit, the money just gets ploughed back into other community stuff.
Oops, a bit of a ramble. Just putting off going to bed. I'll give myself a talking to and go now."A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

Hi, I'm new to this - how does it work?0
-
Tryingtobethrifty - I'll PM you and give you my phone number, we're on the same area code and it will be a local call. If you're ever really fed up then you can phone me and I'll probably finish you off
Ollycob, what do you mean, how does what work?0 -
PAH - I have found with WI that it can be a bit difficult to make a place for yourself at first, the best way I found to break the ice was to wander into the kitchen and offer to help dry up the teacups. That gives you a few ladies to chat to and I find they see you as 'one of us' very quickly after that. Then all the members seem to recognise you and say hello. It goes on from there and you fit!
Hello OLLYCOB - welcome aboard, you don't have to wait to be invited, chat to us, it's always nice to have new folks joining in Cheers Lyn.0
