There is a move to get the DVD re-released but it is an uphill struggle down to costs - there is a Ruth Mott Appreciation page on Facebook if anyone wants to check for updates. It would be good to see the rest of the series.

Well done lavenderbees, we of course, have a heatwave here and I have all that pork to cook :rotfl:

DGS is here for an hour, he has just been driving a power boat on the reservoir down the road. Yes he is 2 and a half bit apparently the guy lets the kids drive with much supervision and he works with severely disabled kids all week. Now his Mummy and daddy have gone back to do more water type things for an hour. i took him for a walk in his buggy to the cemetry at the back of the house and he fell asleep in 4 minutes ! Got back and took his life jacket off :rotfl: as he insisted on keeping it on til he was asleep.

And thats all I have to do today, no shopping, no washing, no housework. Think i will dedicate every Thursday to doing the house then I can have a couple of days free.

Need to make my jam this week and free up the space in the freezer, you couldnt get a slice of ham in there stood up at the moment. Every time I open the door and see my little butter mountain I feel really chuffed with myself.

  • Thanks for the advice re cleaning the stove glass ladies. I use a scourer dipped in the ashes and it works fine. I clean it every other day though while it's warm so it never gets too bad.

Lazy day here today. Well as lazy as you can be while doing the housework and laundry but no office work so it feels like a day off. :D Have been busy preserving all week so the shelves are laden with jams, pickles and chutneys again. :j Got some more wild mushrooms again yesterday so they are air drying, ready to be used in oils for Christmas gifts.

Off to a friends farm for dinner this evening. It's a beautiful place so really looking forward to it.

Popperwell if you are reading, I am sorry your last post was ignored :(. I have looked at your blog and it's clear you didn't say anything about any posters from this thread. The thing that fuddle was referring to was posted in your comments section by a former poster on this thread so you can't be blamed for that. Hope you're ok. :)

Well, I'm pet sitting this week, and it's times like this I realise the joys of having a reasonably sized kitchen, and the ability to walk around a home...it's bliss. My cottage is very tiny as I've often said but of course you adapt to things but it's lovely to be able to walk more than 3 steps to the next room...but I don't have the running and upkeep costs and no doubt if I lived here, it would seem too big and a lot of work. It is a lot of work just pet sitting! My mother's favourite expression was something about cutting your cloth, but I can't remember the rest!

I can forage in the garden for apples, raspberries and blackberries, which is lovely and watch all the wild life.

It's very much an Indian summer here, I left runner beans in my car yesterday and they cooked!!

PAH, I received my !!!!!! book yesterday and I ordered after you. There's not as many recipes as I would have liked although there are some lovely pics of the kitchenette.
  • Savingqueen, my dd1 has just gone into yr2 but last yr she was sent home with books she had read in reception. i put a note in her book bag and the teacher wrote a rude reply in her reading record that basically said that she would be the judge of whether she would go up a level or not.
when i tried to talk to her about it after school she turned her back and walked away while i was trying to explain to her that at home dd1 was reading rohld dhal and cs lewis so a book with a word count of 20 would not be very interesting to her.
a complaint was duly made to the head teacher, and although i didn't get an apology she never turned her back on me again.
I'm hoping this yrs teacher is more encouraging and doesn't make her keep pace with the slowest in the class.
unfortunately said teacher has now moved to yr 3 so dd1 will probably have her again next year.

i would love to homeschool, but i can't afford to give up work:(

Had a busy couple of days. 12 jars of chillililli now stashed in the garage, free funday on the park this afternoon which we all enjoyed. uniforms all washed and dried ready for monday.

dh is now sulking because i forgot to get milk out of the freezer last night and he's had to have black coffee when he got up

I now have 3 pairs of mitts completed and have started a super chunky scarf for me. feels a bit wrong to be knitting for winter when it's so hot.
really glorious weather today, had to dig the suncream back out!

after nearly 5 hrs on the park, girls are shattered and curled up on sofa waiting for tea. they're subjecting me to high school musical again, can't stand it, i'd rather watch the disney princess films.

  • Thanks Byatt, when I signed in today to check about book on The Home Delivery Network said it had been sitting in their depot since Wednesday and due out for delivery on 11th.

Temp shot up this afternoon and its hot, hot,hot out there and in here.

Got some cheap carrots and onions from Mr S to put in dehydrator, was planning on going to fruit shop but clumsiness is rather bad at moment so frightened I might fall on someone in a busy place as cannot keep enough space around me plus couldn't face all the noise in shopping centre, suffering a bit of sensory overload, at least MR S is on its own so could nip in and out, although as the nearest Food Bank was asking for donations of supplies I was in the store a bit longer getting a few bits - I had £10 to my name and they actually were asking if you would give everything on list which would have come to more than I had, so bought two boxes of teabags, dried potato flakes, sweet and sour sauce, and tin custard. All basics but nothing I do not buy myself and its meant had to go without fresh milk(only thing I could do without) so have taken milk out of freezer instead. If I had known I would have taken everything to them from home.

Have a casserole cooking in Dutch oven and will go and add suet dumplings to it. Not exactly the meal for such a hot day but just what I fancy.

Hugs and Love to all xxx

The version I know is "cut your coat according to your cloth." Wise words. "Busy" watching the Paralympics... back to normal Monday...
