Been busy so not able to keep up, but have read Popperwell's last post. Popperwell are you sure you have to pay? It's not your debt? Having said that, I expect the Govt has first dibs on anyone's estate. It might be worth a quick e-mail to the CAB (I think they do an e-mail service) to find out exactly. Why pay the grasping swines if you don't really have to?

No news yet on Lennox the dog, although it isn't looking good. The family have released a statement saying Belfast City Council are not letting them say goodbye and will not release his body. I bet they've already killed him and disposed of his body. However the family say the deadline is 7am tomorrow and if he isn't freed by then, that's when he will be put to sleep. There is huge international pressure, and every item on Belfast City Council's facebook page has comments about Lennox on it. That poor dog, and his poor family. Apparently the dog warden is being done for false representation or something like that, so surely there is a miscarriage of justice if this goes ahead, since her testimony should now be worthless.

If they do kill him, I will be sending a RIP Lennox card to BCC, as big a one as I can afford to post.

To all those who have wished me luck tomorrow - thank you, but the interview is on Thursday - but I shall carry your good wishes forward with me!

Kitchsy good luck with your interview tomorrow.

Firstly my best wishes for your interview tomorrow, Kitchsy too.

In the end Mum's pension was being paid into my account and I was appointee so if I have drawn it out perhaps I do. Then again, they could wait until I come into Mum's savings but I draw their attention to my delaying applying perhaps they'll tell me to get a move on...so it might be easier to pay?

They'll take plenty off Mum's estate and me when it's all sorted.

The CAB is really hard pushed and getting an appointment is hard. I'll look into your idea about whether they accept e-mails...

Suppose you'll be trying to have an early night SmileyT...if you do I hope you sleep well...

Hope the visit to the JC was worth it earlier today...

Trying to make a list of a few essentials to add to my regular shop, just to put aside in case...

Sadly, it is unfair Bossy and it is one of the few things we have no control over. And even if you carry on and decide life has to and loved one's would want you to, it's not the same.

I have no doubt(well I know it was so)Mum really missed Dad and it hit her hard. Of course all marriages have little hiccups but they were still so very much in love, as much at the end as the begining. Both were still quite young, he had to take early retirement.

They had hoped to do so much and within a year he had passed away.

I hope that you find your way through the grief and difficult times...I don't know if your loss is recent or some time ago...

Thank you Fuddle, I may post a question and see what comes back...I was going to pay it immediately but, they'll get it if they are entitled to it sooner or later. If I go in person to the local CAB branch it costs nearly £10 return by taxi:eek:

It used to be in the town centre then they lost the office that the council used allow them to use so it is on the outskirts now...seems wrong when the CAB is so important for many.

I may as well ask...how do I make chicken stock? I don't seem to have any bones left from the chicken just bits and pieces(skin etc...)I don't know where they went. I seem to have what looks like fat but I don't think I am supposed to use that. Well whatever that is, its solidified...so if I have to throw it out I won't be putting it down the sink...

I could cover what I can salvage with water and add some vegetables. Let it stew for a few hours and perhaps make a gravy with it?

Thinking I may do a little something like a chicken pie tomorrow(veg, chicken pieces, gravy)topped with mash potato as it will need to be browned off and I cannot see any other way of doing it)

I did read that some like to brown meat off first before putting it in the slow cooker and some set it away at high heat and then turn it down, I just used the low setting...

Or can you put such a dish in the slow cooker in a foil tray and would it cook?

Pops - I think you cooked the chicken a bit too long, and everything turned to mush. Next time, cook the chook during the day and check it after about 3 hours, then every hour till a leg 'gives' when you tug it (if it feels at all 'tight' it needs more cooking).

The stuff you have left - is there any jelly,or just skin and gunk? If the latter I would ditch and try another time. But if you have any jelly, melt it in a pan gently then strain the liquid off and keep it for adding to gravy etc - it is essentially chicken stock.

To make stock from bones - take the meat off the carcass and put bones in a pan with a chopped carrot, a chopped onion, stick of celery chopped, a couple of bay leaves and some black peppercorns. Put cold water in to just cover the bones and bring to the boil and immediately turn down to a simmer for about 30 mins. Strain off the bits and keep the liquid. It might need a bit of beefing up depending on how many bones you use (you can freeze bones and use them all together to make a good strong stock for soup).

    Hope that helps!
