Kidcat,
I use one energy saving lighbulb on the landing overnight that shines into all the rooms uopstairs where I tend to live. I have a DAB radio and a couple of desktop PC's(but I try to use one at a time and keep them switched off where possible)so far I have avoided the Gas CH and just warmed the water tank and because I don't run it off I can soon reheat the water even a couple of days later.
I eat a lot of cold meals(salads, fruit, sandwiches, cereal)try to cook hot meals in the microwave combi and/or slow cooker but have access to a halogen oven and a George Forman Grill.
I try to avoid doing to many loads in the washer and let the clothes build up and the spin is so good, clothes are really quite dry, I try to put things on the washing line or no longer than 15 mins in the tumble drier. Have an upright fridge freezer. Think that's about it!
I used to walk about more or less in t-shirts and shorts but now I am saving on energy and income...I am depending on diving under the duvet or wearing thermals, CS jumpers, PJ's, dressing gowns, fleeces, blankets, Hot water bottles, electric blankets...I've tried to think of anything possible that will save money...when Mum passed away and being used to a lovely warm house it was like an icebox so I hate to think what it will be like when Winter sets in...

Shegar - I know how hard it is for you, I do hope you get a good week for your respite. I agree it is ridiculous how doctors seem reluctant to do tests on some things yet will send people for tests for ridiculous things.
The reliance on pills all the time is lazy doctoring as my nan would have said.
My DD6 had tests done two weeks ago for a water infection, the results were back next day, however it took over a week for the doctor to look at the results.
ANd that is what it comes down to, time, its easy to give someone pills and send them away, whereas tests mean paperwork to book the appointment, then paperwork to look at the results then actually giving the results to the patients.0 -

Hello FAYHARE - welcome to the party, your orchard sounds like heaven on earth to me, I'll bet the birdsong is beautiful, come and play!!!!!
FUDDLE - Jam jars for preserving, give them a good wash in hot soapy water and then make sure they are completely dry inside and out. Put your oven on very low and put the jars on the shelves, making sure they are not touching each other. I usually manage 2 rows on each shelf by pushing some to the back. Give them about half an hour and pot the preserve hot into the hot jars. If you are using jars with lids put the lids on now and tighten them up when they are cool enough to handle. Good luck with it all Cheers Lyn xx.0 -
Msmanx - thank you and welcome0

I have bought some really good YS items tonight. Total came to £24 and would have been £42 if full price and includes Finest fishcakes, in packs of 2 for 30p each.0

Kidcat, regarding the school not allowing wam clothing when outside, I have to say I am appalled. I remember when I was in school in the 60's we were sent out whatever the weather but could wear outdoor clothes, but the cold just made my legs cramp and I was in agony...I was a scrawny kid then even at 15. The school wouldn't let me go in even though I was crying with pain.
edit, what happened, I now have two posts!! and I quoted myself...0 -

Yea too right it is lazy doctering, when they see you for a few mins appointment then dr close the file , they give out more tablets they dont see the real problems what goes on at home and how people cope with it all..........
Im sick of being fobbed off with different tablets everytime, there comes a time when I think the dr should investigate further, espeically if the patient as previous life threatning medical problems..............
Youve got your fair share of medical problems in your family too, you also must get very tired with it all?.........
But us ladies have to cope when your in that situation..............
I looked at the garden today and thought I must try to do this and that and one thing another , but time went so quick, I cant be inside and out , hubby not well at all today, so the carer didnt come in this morning, I do need the carer everyday , but when she have a day off its so nice , cos sometimes you just want your house to yourself:Dwithout sounding selfish......................
Got to take hubby for botox injections this Thurs so I have to drive to the care home which is 28 miles away pick him up then take him 14 miles the other way to get to the hospital then take him back then I drive home, that will take the day up, never mind, be nice if the MRI scan came for the same day ....:D My luck wouldnt go that far.........
I just see the weather forcast for Monday and again we will miss all the rain that most places will get all day, at least ive got the weather on my side......:)0
