I am going to attempt bread in the halo though. Wish me luck!
Good luck. As a keen bread baker I'd be interested to learn how you get on with top down heat. (Fretting about this is why I haven't tried bread in the halogen.)August grocery challenge: £8.65/£300

Oooh good luck fuddle! I will be waiting with baited breath to find out how it turns out. I use my BM and am afraid to try the halogen to cook it but would love to do some rolls in there. Fingers crossed for you!
Have a lovely child free day - I count my freedom in parent-free days - not that they are very demanding now that everyone is back out of hospital and they have a carer - but if I am needed or just go over for a visit/to take them out, it takes the whole day really and nothing gets done here.
Hope everyone is well and happy today. I have more energy and feel positive at the moment, long may it last.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Mrs Chip have you tried bread in the halogen oven?"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

imo I'm very uneasy about the idea of moving money to other places to disguise the fact that it is savings, and indeed it won't help - unless one blatantly lies on the forms they specifically ask if you have any money for a rainy day, stashed in any place other than the bank.
Good look for the future everyone, we surely are going to need it

WSC we're back to normal again so do pop in again...having more people helps keeps things happy..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

You know Popperwell, no-one IMVHO was giving you the third degree but were making valid points based on your posts. I would have said the same but someone said it before me. No-one "knows" you or me, only who we are based on what we post, regulars or otherwise, although points of view are not only allowed by the "regulars" on this thread but by all. Especially when somone posts on this very public web site. It would be very easy to find out who you are based on the information you have given out and believe me there are plenty of people who would report someone on a lot less. Not so long ago, you were not a regular. As for saying "lighten up" I think that is uncalled for.
We can plan and worry, worry and plan about our future's but guess what, there are no gurantees, none at all. I have just found out, in the last week that my sister has dementia, very, very sudden and cruel and she is only 65. I am heartbroken. So many wasted years through estrangement and now I don't get the chance to enjoy life with her. And neither does she, to see her crying over something that happened 20-30 years ago, puts a lot of things in perspective. Including my life.0 -
OK, point taken Byatt,
If I am in thee wrong I apologise and I'll bow out for a while and no more talk about finances...
What you have mentioned is far more important and I feel for you and your sad news..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Byatt:- What awful news for you! Dementia is an awful disease which robs both the sufferer and their family. We lost my MiL to this disease and you have my every sympathy.:grouphug:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

Morning all
fuddle do something nice for yourself as well please. I recommend either a long bubble bath or relaxing for a while with a good book and an ice lolly. Happy Birthday wishes for your DD for tomorrow
Evie I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding
Byatt I'm so sorry to hear about your sister ((((((((((hugs))))))))))
I spent yesterday trying to avoid worrying and biting my nails as my Godmother had to have a tumour removed from the back of her eye and they had to go in through her forehead and the side of her head to get to it. Thankfully the op went well and she seems to be ok so far. I'm waiting for my family to visit her/call the hospital today so I get more news.
This morning I have baked two vanilla sponges that will be filled with strawberry jam and butter cream later and a huge choc chunk banana cake to keep DS1 and DS2 happy for a while. I don't think DH will object either. I've also taken some mince out of the freezer to make lasagne for dinner. I might use some of my AF bread mix and make some garlic bread to go with it. It depends on how long I can stand being in the kitchen.
I am trying to decide if I should have a go at making a curtain for DS2's bedroom. My sewing is still very much at the beginner stage and I don't want to spend money on fabric to then ruin it. He wants black out lining and I'm not sure my machine will deal with that many thick layers. I might ask my friend who sews a lot for advice and see what she thinks.
Time to peg some laundry out and getting dressed at some stage might be a good plan.
Take care xxxxx0 -
