I wish you luck with the bread Fuddle. I have a BM and *ahem*quite a lot of bread mix but am not making it at the mo as I also have tonnes of bread in the freezer left over from catering orders. Once we have used up most of that the BM will be coming out and I will no doubt put on even more weight. Just can't resist hot fresh bread and butter.
  • Byatt: I am so sorry to hear about your sister, as others have said it's a very cruel disease and I can imagine many on here have experience of close relatives going through it.
Both of my Grandmothers had it (so to an extent not as unexpected as they were older when it started than your sister is), one was more like a close friend to me and it broke our hearts as you say goodbye so many times.
We ignored the advice of Drs etc at the time and never contradicted them about long-gone loved ones, we could see it made them happier and calmer to think they were still there, even if only for a few seconds!
I've followed your story so closely and have admired your strength for a while now, I think since you joined the thread, and I'm sorry there is only you to cope with this. But cope you will and I will keep my fingers crossed every day that it will not become too much for you as no doubt will many others. Best wishes to you xx

SmileyT - Thrilled for you!! Just what you need after a bad time lately, more sunshine in your life yeehah!!

Would love to reply to so many posts but just feeling my feet re posting on this thread and have laughed and cried a lot with you all this morning and now need to trot off to A$da - many hours late, with SC's rumbling around my brain and the thought of liver and onions and that fab gravy - could scoff that now - Fuddle please give it a go with lovely soft mash....phwoooaar!!

Thank you all and have a lovely sunny day!

Brilliant news smiley, even better that it was unexpected.

I have made the decision to start growing my own veg. We have a large garden and tbh I rarely do anything with it. Some of the veg I love, like leeks are ridiculously expensive. I have made an order with real seeds, and will have to make a few more before next spring. I am looking forward to getting the kids involved with growing and then collecting the seeds.

Before I start does anyone have any tips?

I am so pleased for you! :j:j

    Happy Birthday to Lou :bdaycake:

Marinaded chicken pieces and shaped lamb koftas for tonight and DH dug up some potatoes so will do potato salad later.

Dishwasher has gone on and washing is on the line outside. DH and I had boiled egg and toast breakfast and going to see what he fancies for lunch then drag hoover round downstairs, tidy kitchen and steam mop floor.

Want to go stock up on tea bags and look for YS things later.

    Hester

    Glad your dd is safe.

    Hug to all

Ha ha - don't kill me if you hate it please!

I used to (haven't made it for years), fry the onions so they're nice and caramelised, and lightly fry off the liver then bung them all in a pan of lovely gravy to simmer until I couldn't wait any longer! Would imagine it would do well in your SC!

You can just fry off the liver quickly and it saves it turning in to something you could nail to the soles of your shoes if you're not careful! Boiled new potatoes and mint are lovely with it - or mash, pools of gravy on the top of a Close Encounters-style portion of buttery mash.........:droooool:....

Aw gawd, I dunno if I can do it lol I just don't fancy it. :o

Bread problem in the halo. It hasn't cooked underneath so I have had to turn it round. I think it's because I have had it sat on a casserole dish. I need a holed plate so the air can get right round.

If I sat it on the wire rack with greaseproof paper, would that work?

    EDIT:

bread is done. Apart from teething problems I am quiet pleased.

  • Afternoon Toughies, Phew it's hot down here after a very noisy night because it was foggy on the river and the foghorns were sounding all night, very loudly so we are all feeling a little jaded.

I've been reading for an hour now and would just like to say please don't anyone drop out, we all need each others input and ideas far too much to loose you. I'm sure no one was actively encouraging any illegal or suspect behaviour but were trying to come up with a solution to sticky problems.

I haven't been posting for a very long time but I know I would feel very sad if anyone felt they couldn't express an opinion either way without feeling they were in the wrong, and being judged by us all. Not so, it's a very good thing to have freedom of speech and ideas - as MEME said just the other day we are a Band of Brothers and all of us are needed!!!!!

DH came back from the allotment this morning with a large cabbage, the first cauliflower, 3 courgettes (like we needed some more!!!!) and the first picking of runner beans so we had a marinaded vegetable greek salad with some feta cheese and we sat out in the garden to eat, it was lovely.

Stay cheered all, we all need one another, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Your bread looks lovely. Where did you get your bowl in the background from?

The one with the summer fruit pudding in? It's a Mason and Cash one from Lakeland. I got it in their sale in January though so I doubt it would be in stock now.
